What do I need to get some hood strut action going on? I got the struts ("assist supports") themselves and a '99 hood that has the thing for it. The diagram on gmpartsdirect (http://www.trademotion.com/schematics/D/DG99120.gif) doesn't really help me because I'm a retard when it comes to these things. So, I think I may just need the hardware or something, but what exactly do I need? Thanks.

To go from prop rod to struts u need the hood, hinges and struts. If u don't wanna get the hood, u can weld on the top mounts for the struts on ur hood

you need the hood hinges from a 99 or 2000 also. the hinge has the one ball and the hood has the other and then it's just the struts.

Need to get me these hinges. Is my best bet a junk yard, or would AutoZone or Advanced Auto have it?

Thank you gentlemen. I appreciate it.

I pulled my hinges from a yard, but I got the struts from ebay.

Or if u don't wanna get a new hood you could also go with the kit from redline tuning

Redline for the win! I did my Malibu with those last summer and feel it was probably the best value for dollar of anything I've added to this beast.

I don't know, all I see is that maybe your valve cover has a little gunk on it, otherwise it looks pretty clean.

Mine definitely has a prop rod... no hood struts.

I'd like them.. but won't pay for them.

fallout mines a 2004. 2004 got stripped of alot of things last year of production. and as for the wires you order them under your years alero just a grand am v6.so if you have a 2003 alerov6 order a 2003 grand am v6 and you should find the wires. ill check my reciept and give you the part number. its same wires and motor specs :)

yeah cherrington they were $64 plus shipping around $80 but it was a gift. to be honest i probably would have bought them anyway im so happy with them.
