Hello,
I was thinking about installing fog lights on my alero. I have a few questions before I buy anything: Since there is no existing switch for the fog lights I would need to buy something like this: http://tiny.cc/jyj6b. My question on this is, would there be a wire harness or some kind of connector behind the driver side vent for the fog light switch? And would there be some kind of connector on the out side of the car where the fog lights would mount? Or do I need to buy all of these connectors or harnesses separate?
Thanks!

the wiring is not there.
if you want to install fog lights, you have to run the wires yourself. and i would get that switch if i were you, thats what i want to buy when i get my fog lights

Yeah that's what I was afraid of...running the wires myself lol

Are there any guides or books out there that would show me what I needed to buy and how to wire everything up?

online diagrams, but it's pretty easy.
depending on what you want, but have fused power going to the switch. then the power wire going to the positive wires on the fog lights, and the ground wires on the fog lights going to the battery, or a chassis ground. it is easy. and for getting wire into the cab (for the switch) just go through the steering column boot.
now if you want to do what i did, i wired in a relay so that my fog lights wouldn't come on until my headlights were on, so that i couldn't forget them on

I haven't hook up fogs in a while (a long time) but I would think it's like any other power source.
Hook a wire up to power, one to ground, and one to a switch. You could even hook it up to ign this way you can never forget to turn them off ;)
Fusing it, would be the only way I'd do it ;)
Buy a kit with a relay, you can get power behind the radio and run the wires thru the steering shaft grommet ;)

Everything you should need will be in the installation kit for the fogs you purchase. Instructions will be in there as well. Sometimes you may need some extra length in wire but all you need to do is purchase enough to get the job done...matching what they supply with the kit. Good Luck
