View Full Version : Directly importing HIDs?

I was approached by an HID company rep about directly importing HIDs.

I normally wouldnt consider such a thing as it would require me to buy "stock" items that may not sell quickly.

However I can get the common 9006 bulb 3,000k-30,000k kits (35w) for $18... or the 55w kits for $19.50 Plus shipping custom and such. I can get in with a 10 pc order.

6,000K 8,000K and 10,000K seem to be the main colors...

This is pretty tempting. It would allow me to offer you guys a better deal and it appears (reads) like this company is a top tier manufacturer in China (where else of course?).

Thoughts or opinions?

What kind of warranty? I paid more but have lifetime coverage for ballasts AND bulbs. Digital or not? What about H1 bulbs for projectors? just curious...

I tried buying HID bulbs from a chinese/japanese from eBay. Didn't turn out well, it didn't even fit the stock. The reason I went with what you gave me is I felt more secure that with the ballasts and regulators I wouldn't fry things. I vote no.

I would say to see what other people say on the brand and go from there. If they are ok then I would be in for a set of highs at 55w 6000k.

Would they be wiling to sell you one of their kits so you can see what the quality is like?

Minimum order quantity is 10 kits.

Warranty is 6 months only.

They claim a 3% defective rate and the bulbs are "b stock" at this price.

Digital ballasts, A stock bulbs, 18 month warranty and 1% defective are $26 a pop.

I highly doubt I will do this as it requires me to invest money and take a risk on it for little to know reward. Never know though I guess... My better judgment says no.
