hey guys, question for you.

i have ddm tuning high and low hids installed. and love them. but i have one small problem.

scenario. it's night time, cruise set too 100km/h.

so i have my high beams on, and there is a car coming, so i have just lows on. but SOMETIMES when i got back to high, my cruise control kicks off. and if i hit set/resume they dont do anything. if i tap the brake pedal so the brakes just come on a little, then the cruise works again.

i used to have this problem when i signaled and such when the little black box by the intake broke off and wasn't grounded correctly, but since i have grounded that box back to the fender.

now heres is my thought. since hids take quite a bit of current when first turned on, i think it sucks the system down. so either not a good enough ground somewheres. or my battery sucks the big one.

stock ac delco battery. big 3 wiring is done. and hids are using stock harnesses

a possible fix? maybe setting up a relay to power the hids instead of the head light wires. maybe that'll help the system

Do your low beams stay on with your highs?

Your idea that the start-up of the lamps causes a low voltage sounds right and you've got some possible causes.

Another one might be the contacts in the brakelight switch. If they don't make good contact then they could add to the low voltage problem and cause the cruise to kick off. The fact that the cruise doesn't come back until to tap the brakes supports this idea, but with all of the logic going on on all the controllers the brake switch may just be resetting the cruise system.

i never had this problem until the hids.

and yes, when i go high beam, the lows stay on. it would be scary if they turned off and had to wait for them to warm up every time.

and before i had the hids, i my low beams stayed on with the highs. so the only thing thats changed is the hids

Mine has/had this issue... totally random, only once in a while.

can't seem to figure it out.

mine was having the issue when i honked the horn, or hit a bump, and that quit after i grounded that black thing to the fender. maybe i should go back to that.

it's really weird, and annoying at night time

how did you get your lows and highs to stay on at the same time?

having lows and highs on at the same time is not fun for the people in the oncomming lane, unless you are able to turn off the highs

of course you can turn them off :rolleyes2:

your headlights work like normal, but when you go to high, your lows stay on too
