Well calling around places price now went up I quess and it's 500+ to replace windshield. I can get one at the salvage yard for 25. Found a windshield removal kit at harbor freight for 10. Know will have to get adhesive. But question is has anyone replaced a windshield them selfs?
Tips on removing?
Tips on installing?
How much do they way?
Really not wanting to diy it but don't have that kind of money nor to I really want to put that into the car. Would just leave it alone but I have like 5cracks all the way from the bottom to the top directly in my view!

do NOT do it yourself.

if you have glass coverage on your insurance, just claim that and be done with it.

damn. thats great insurance you got there. (from a customer service standpoint)

they could have at least pointed you in the direction of a frequently used shop... or a cheap one... or something.

I have doesnt seem that bad but haven't found anything out about doing ours if glued or have the clips an stuff. Also went to the junk yard didn't find a single one from a ga or an alero that wasn't cracked. Have another yard in town that I'm going to look at 2naro.

I payed $250 in either December or January to have my windshield replaced on the Alero. I had Safelite Autoglass do it and they came out to my house and did it for me in like 30 minutes and the windshield came with a lifetime warranty. So I was rather impressed with that.

thats a huge ripoff. i got mine replaced a cpl years ago because there were so many chips in it i could barely see. cost me about $130, and they came to my house to do it.

You must be buying some cheap ass glass. Even one for my Escort is like $215 (for a OEM Carilte one) but not much cheaper if I go aftermarket.

Also went to the junk yard didn't find a single one that wasn't cracked.

Same thing for my Escort, but my local U-pull-it place charges $60 for a windshield, so it's probably not worth it unless you can DIY.

If you are not sure you can do it, find a U-pull-it place and practice on their windshields to see if you can get it out. You can even practive on a cracked one first (since you don't want to break a good one on your first attempt).

If you want, I can make a couple calls up here and see how much it would be. You only live like 45 minutes away.

I had mine done this spring for 250 deductible. I bought the car with 3 cracks in the windshield.

I suggest you switch insurance company and have it replaced 3 months from now. Don't diy...
