I put a blue LED light in my license plate lighting assembly, but it isn't very bright, and barely shines on my plate. It's just cheap $5 bulb with just one LED, we had to sand it down to fit in the assembly. I also bought some amber 5 bulbs, they are the same height and width, but can't be sanded, so it won't fit.
Is their a way I can mod the assembly to allow it to shine better? Or would it be better to purchase a better brand of LED's? Or just a different colour all together?

What I have is a wedge 194 led that I got off ebay. Its only one bulb and its bright. The blue is a little dim but the white looks real nice and it has a hint of blue anyway. Check that out.

If you could find me ones like it and show me, it would be appreciated.
Even in the dark, you can just see the light, it barely lights up the plate.

you don't want blue external lights on the car. ESPICIALLY license plate.
you'll get a ticket in no time, for impersonating an emergency vehicle. stick with white/yellow if your doing outside lights. Inside...anything goes.

yeah cops are all over exterior lighting at times, i got pulled over for neons awhile back and the cop told me red blue and green are illegal. i had red. but i asked a cop from my town and he called the dapartment i got pulled over from fuckin idiots. hahaha cop told me that as long as u cant see the light from the front of vehicle or as long as they're not flashing.
