Hi guys,
I finally got to bring the car back to life. I threw a rod a few month ago while autocrossing and finally I got an engine with 70,000 km on it for $600 and replaced the engine. However I changed the clutch and that costed me even more than the engine. I was thinking of getting rid of it but now I'm thinking of keeping it as a daily driver and autocross my new car.
I bought an 06 RX-8 Shinka edition (1500 made only) and it's a blast but I don't want to drive it to work and grocery shopping... just for weekends / track / autocross.
BTW apologies to those who were doing the sway bar group buy as I couldn't make a decision before fixing the car first.
Cheers,

There used to be 2 people doing that and with me out, there is only one person autocrossing Aleros. Alero does okay for it's class and with the right development time and tires it makes a great G-Stock car. This is my last event with the Alero where I blew the engine on my 2nd run and still won the stock group:

Well I don't know what your mods were but with the following on a 2.4 engine, you can stay in G-Stock:
Front and rear adjustable shocks, Front Sway bar upgrade, Brake pad upgrade, R-Compounds, Cone air Filter.
My strut tower braces and WAI tubing would make me illegal for the class but no one cares since they don't make much of a difference.
It's all about being fully prepared for whatever class you are in. in DSP you want to do full suspension, turbocharger, and you definitely want to run on fat Hoosier A6 tires to be competitive. For my RX-8 I'm aiming for the STX class which means I'll have to run on Direzza's.

I'm in "D" class due to the V6, SP because of the mods i have done, when i install my supercharger i will be in modified class. i run modified suspension, brakes, ignition, fuel and exhaust system, and 245 and 255 Direzza's, i'm very competitive in my class, at least down here i am. the thing i like about this class is i can do alot of modifications suspension, weight and engine wise, but no forced induction.
i do hear the rx8's do very well in autox even stock.

Here is the ad with 1 pic:

And here is a little more info on how the Special Edition is different:

And Jabartram you are right about the RX-8 doing well in both C-Stock and STX. The SCCA national tour result of the RX-8s kinda influenced my decision. And the Shinka edition would probably do even better in stock.

Good to hear your Alero is back up and running... The color on that RX-8 is great!
If i autocrossed my Alero, I would absolutely get owned in STX.

The seats made me fall in love. Tan/white leather... sexiest seats I've ever seen:

The seats are not super light / race seats. They are lighter than the Alero seats probably but are even more comfortable.
They do like to put that triangle everywhere, you can accessories it with even more triangles from Mazdaspeed... Wheel centre hub caps, B Pillar decals, etc.
