tranny trouble need help please

so i have a 2.2 5speed and when sitting in nutral with the clutch out it makes a whining noise. when i push the clutch in it goes away. also it is very hard to get into gears. if i am able to get it into gear i drove it about 30 yards and the whining noise got very loud.please someone help

clutch might not be entirely engaging. If that's the case you probably need to bleed it. Any manual drivers wanna pitch in?

Ok, that sounds like you throw out bearing, which means you have to drop the tranny to change it. As for harder shift, getrags(our tranny) are known for lil harder shift, especially into first. I would recommend you changing the fluid first and see what it does. It should shift smoother. Buy this 2 bottles of B&M Synthetic Shift trick, drop a third bottle in it (too over fill it) if you want to get the "getrag growl" noise away, google it.

x2 dunno about that clutch. Jack it up, put it in first, and press the clutch.. make sure the wheels stop moving (shows clutch pedal, master, and slave are workin.. at least to properly disengage).

Throwout bearing is a good idea.. does our trans have a removable inspection cover?? Could take that off and get under there and listen a little closer while someone works the clutch.

If the clutch disengages the trans properly then I'd say fluid's the next place to check!

i've had that throw out bearing growling for six months now. i really want to change it.

and i agree, put synthetic oil in your tranny, i noticed a big difference in shifting

well i changed the throw out bearing assembly and the noise stopped but now it will go into 1st 3rd and 5th but sometimes it will pop out and it wont go into rev at all and i want to drive it but i dont know if its safe yet and dont want to mess anything else up

Cable isn't connected, or you connected something wrong when installing it.. it's gotta be.

Usually there's what.. 2 shift cables?? Make sure they're all on the right levers, proper routing, etc.

Also... where are the detent balls on this trans? On the shifter or actually on the forks in the trans? Might've somehow dropped one out and that rolled away, that'd cause popping out of gear.
