I searched for something akin to the title and turned up nothing so I am throwing out a line. In my 2004 the light bulb in the center console (in the little cubby, under the radio and dash) has been burnt out for some time. Is it simply a pull and plug job to replace or will it require some disassembly?

Secondly, (a question that is right up Cherry's alley) is it possible to replace it with an LED bulb and if so, what part number is the stock bulb so I can match them up. And lastly, what site would you all recommend that carries the LED bulb I would need?

Muchas gracias!

no idea about the led replacement. I know that area is lit up on my car, but i removed the bulb, cut the wires and drilled a few holes into the top of the cubby hole. Mount Leds, connect wires, done.

the bulb holder twists out of place, but the bulb is usually tricky to remove. its in there GOOD.

remove the shifter and radio bezels, and you can easily get to the bulb socket from the back. buy a 74 size led bulb and replace the burnt out bulb with that. the old bulb may be a huge pita to get out, and you may end up smashing the bulb and having to either pull it out with pliers by the little filament, or using a tiny screwdriver and just busting up all the glass thats left in the housing (thats what i had to do). this has all been mentioned somewhere else on the forum as far as i know. check either ebay or superbrightleds.com for the bulb.

on a semi related topic :offtopic: can you wire all your leds to the same power cable? or will there not be enough power?

I just sodered wire to a 194 I had, then used marrets to connect them. Didn't feel like sodering in the car that day.

Is there a how-to for sodering?

yes. 1 led uses 0.02A

I have over 100 wired to one power line... its still only 2A. you could literally run THOUSANDS off your car battery.

Xander, i thought i did a small "how to" for soldering. check my sig

I figured you had. But I got bored at work and googled...

Is it the "frequently asked questions" there cherry? Didn't see anything about LED sizing or soldering at first glance. Unless I have some confusion as to what the "sig" is now...
