just finished replacing all of my interior lights with green leds. turned out quite well. got the t10 leds and followed smurfs how to to do the gauge cluster. only issue i had/have is my dome light housing wont stay up now. i guess the little clips that hold it in were too brittle and they all broke when i took it out. anyway, on to the pics. none of the footwell/dome light because cell phones do not take good pics of green light apparently.

ill see if i can get some better quality pics, i didnt realize these were so shitty.
you can actually use a ziptie to hold the domelight in place, at least thats whats holding mine atm.

how would i use a ziptie? its the two little ribbed legs that go into the holes in the roof of the car that are damaged. i cant rly see any way to get a ziptie up there without removing the headliner or something.
thanks to everyone else for the comments.

Cover the clips in something sticky or tarlike... like what they use to hold the plastic sound damping sheet to the door. That should help.

that blue stuff that people use to hold up posters with on walls works great for keeping that done light in place

white rider, i think you need to get some yellow leds and do your needles next.
7up car, FTW!

you'd be called rainbow bright. and the 2nd gayest thing on site. (the first being a rainbow photoshop from years back)
it would be painful to look at. imagine driving with that distraction?
The deal with lighting is that you have to make it blend. If the colors contrast too much, or are all too different, its hard to look at. I had some blue leds that were just too bright, and therefore, really hard to look at. it was a really sharp color... it hurt to look at for long. Luckily, it was only in the vents, not the gauges. If it was the gauges, it would have sucked.

don't forget looking at blue lights while driving at night also makes you sleepy

i've never heard of that.... article to back it up?
I've had more of an issue with the red being so dim, its hard to see. The blue is brighter, keep me focused

something to do with your eyes and your brain, hold up ill look for the article. I found it when looking at the difference's and benifits and con's of HID kalvin's

so after reading it a little, I guess my first source was wrong and blue lights actually make you stay awake more but red light does nothing for you

You misreAd the article. It says that blue light keeps you wide awake where as red light does nothing (doesnt keep you awake)
Edit: didnt realize you corrected yourself

very interesting. I like the fact that he has the studies sourced in the article too.
thanks for finding that.

yea np, I actually found it interesting too....even tho my car is red I think im going to have to do the blue theme since if im driving at night its normally for a long run anyways

I don't think it'll make THAT much of an impact.

maybe not, but blue has always been my fav color anyways

i have had blue neons in all my cars but they aren't always on most of the time they were on when i wasn't driving beings here its not legal to have red or blue lights to the front or rear of the vehicle while in motion

we mean the gauge clusters, my other colors would be only on when the doors open as its also a pain to drive with lights on all the time its very distracting

so ive had the green in or a few days now, and i must say, it gives me quite a headache. not the gauges or small lights, but when all the lights are on inside and its dark out. a lot more difficult to see inside, and obviously everything is green. im going to be taking out the dome and map lights, and maybe footwell lights too. that way the only green ones will be the ones visible while the car is running.

if you have them connected via a gray illumination wire, then you should be able to dim them with your switch.
find a good level of "dim-ness" and then use resistors to maintain that level at all times.

so if you want to change the brightness you have to change the resistors?

yes. they increase the resistance on the line, thus altering the voltage. and the amount of voltage, is going to determine the brightness.
the "dimmer" switch, is essentially a large potentiometer, which is a fancy term for variable resistor. As you turn it up or down, it increases or decreases the resistance on the illumination lines going to the bulbs in the car. (that are on the dimmer circuit)

so say you set it at half brightness and wire the right resistors. if you forget and raise the brightness you'll blow your leds, correct?

hmm. good question.
by "right" resistors, you mean you used the ones they came with, for 12V, right? And you used the gray illumination wire for your power? (if you turn the dimmer down, does it make the leds dim?)
If they do dim, then no, they won't explode. You've simply been running them on 6V, instead of 12. (or 7.75 instead of 14.8) They'll just get brighter.
if you turn the dimmer down, and plug a 12V light in... it won't explode when you turn the dimmer back up, does it? No. That wouldn't make any sense.
Now.. if you did something stupid... like... set the dimmer half way, figured out the voltage of the line, then bought the correct resistors for THAT voltage, wired them, then said "i want it brighter" and turned it up... then yes.. they would explode, because they are set to max out at 6v, and your throwing 6 MORE volts into them.
Greens (If I remember correctly) use ~470 ohm resistors @ 12V?

^^thats all jibberish to me. anyway, i just took out the dome and map lights. the wife was complaining too, so they had to go.
