actually no.. it would be 20k as the K stands for Kilo which is equal to a 1000. this means when you say 20000k youre actually saying 20,000,000.

if you think you see great, get some 5000k.
I know its your choice... glad you like them.

actually i believe he is right. in the case of hids the "k" stands for kelvin, which is a measurement of the temperature/color of the bulb. so a 20000k bulb is 20000 kelvin. look here. (http://www.delonixradar.com.au/hid-xenon/colour-chart.php)

white you are 100% correct i was waiting to see who was gonna catch that cause all light is measured in kelvin i wonder how many people DIDN'T pay attention in science class
SnoopySnooper1
10-18-2010, 11:36 AM
yea the k says foer kelvin, if you wanbt to be technical its 20kk (20 thousand kelvin) the temp of the buld which gives it its color

Kalvin doesn't measure light.... Kalvin is a measurement of temperature. 20,000K means the bulb heats to 19,727*C, and at that temperature the gas inside the bulb(Xenon?) gives off a blue light that doesn't do much good other than for blinding people(your eyes aren't very good at picking up reflected blue light, but direct blue light is very harsh).

from what i leanred the bulb tewmp is the color. kelvin is the tmep of the bulb
ill try to find the link, i think jester is right though

The bulb will be a certain color at a given temperature yes, I was just being nit-picky by saying that kalvin isn't a measure of light.

now just imagine what you could see, if you had 2 or 3x more visible light for use...

Blue LEDs in the turn signals will get you pulled over. That's impersonating an emergency vehicle, whether you mean to or not. I almost got in big trouble with having blue lights in the front of my car.....
Also, I'd like to see a picture of the retrofit projectors you have in there. I'm rather interested in that. :)

lol.... you seriously think the bulb gets that hot? Does anyone know what Kelvin stands for in relation to lighting? http://www.runemasterstudios.com/graemlins/images/willy_nilly.gif

Good info, however I'm not sure if I would lean too heavily on that sight, as in at least more than one places they mentioned "degrees kelvin", and there's actually no such thing, it's just kelvin.

That is purple, red or blue is the no-no.
I too think they are too blue. I have 6kk HIDs on the bravada and love the light color and output.

i'm not condemning him for having 20ks... i'm just saying.. line up next to someone with 5k and see what your not seeing.
since i went 5k... then had a ballast crap out, and went back to stock for a week... i thought i was gonna die. can't see crap with stock. pure white or death, imo.

New York's Blue Light Law:
http://www.nysgtsc.state.ny.us/bluelite.htm
And I'm pretty sure blue turn signal bulbs will strobe (obviously) which is impersonating an emergency vehicle which is illegal in all states. Not trying to be a dick.... Just trying to help you avoid getting in trouble.

I will say that I do like the HID's, regardless of the kelvin number. They look cool. So thumbs up! :thumb: The blue LEDs are cool too, just don't want you to get into trouble with police. I've been there and done that with blue lights.

Gotta take criticism... Everyone on here has an opinion. But when it all comes down to it, it's your car, and your money.
In my experience, Blue lights equals fun times with law enforcement. With my audio knowledge, I can't stand loud systems.... All that sound in such a small space is not good for your ears (in relation to your video of your system), especially with high decibel levels. But I'm a recording major with live sound experience. I need my ears, and that's something I worry about all the time.
In all, I really like your car. It's got some good stuff in it. Definitely better than my Alero.
