Here is some pics of my alero. I am sorry for the bad quality I couldn't find my camera and took these with my cell phone.

Fell free to comment, and I will have more pics once I clean her and start the mods. Hoping to clear the corners this weekend if I have time.

Nice car man, the engine looks clean. Just one question, doesn't the temperature look a little above normal? Or is that normal for the 3400's?

robalero

thats way more then normal, heck mine has gotten slightly higher but then the fans kick in and its down to that again

That's right about where mine runs when it's warm, and I don't have any problems.

Also nice car, I love the color, and very clean, it looks brand new, good find.

i was thinking about getting a new thermo, how hard are they to do yourself? easy or?

edit - i found a how-to on how to do it... seems pretty difficult.. :/

oh also redog, where does the temp gauge sit now with your 180 thermo in? is it AC Delco? or different brand?

Changing the thermostat is really easy on the ld9 its just a matter of patience for ten minutes. After you undo the two thermostat housing bolts crawl under your car and there is a tube that has a bracket attached to the (oil pan?) or something like that and you just unbolt that (make sure u have a gallon sized bucket sitting under the thermostat) and then you can pull the two apart, and let the coolant all drain out.

I don't know what it is cause I've never worked on an LD9, but it's definitely not the oil pan. Oil/antifreeze mix = dead engine.

Hey thanks for all the comments guys. I am just working on clearing the corners and was wondering what is the best type of adhesive to use. I have some silicone and some acrylic caulk. Would that work? or should I use something else?

They don't actually mix :p . That bracket is just to support the bottom pipe of the thermostat housing so it stays up.

All right, cool. But having antifreeze in the oil pan is still asking for trouble. Especially since antifreeze sinks in oil.
