Forced to buy new rims and tires today

Well it's becomming to big of a problem and most likey dangerous with my current wheels and tires.

The tires are almost 5 years old, still have around 5/32 to 4/32 of tread left, but the sidewalls are all cracking and looking pretty bad, so to avoid a blowout, it's time. Tires don't owe me nothing, almost 50,000 miles on them, the longest I've ever had tires last on ANY car I've owned. 2nd longest would be the lettered BFG's I had on my Cougar and I drove like an asshole back then. Flooring it at every light.

The rims are gone too. The one rim is all rotted and corroded inside, causing the massive air leak (40 psi to 13 psi in 3 days in 60* weather) I looked around for a replacement Kazera rim but couldn't find one. Besides if the one is that bad, what does that say for the other 3 and why pay all that money on used rims.

So I ordered everything from Summit. Also ordered the hub rings and I have an old set of lug nuts that fit these wheels :D

I'm getting these tires: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus (Suppose to be the next step up to the Exalto's I have on the car now, they don't make them in my size anymore anyway)

I think so, the Exalto's got me out of 2 feet of snow with NO problems, much to the disgust of my neighbor digging out his stuck in 1 foot of snow Land Rover :lol:

Exactly what type of OEM rims were those that went bad?

The only "bad" rims I've ever come across (due to age, not colission damage) were because all the glue for the tires built up over time. Several hours later and lots of elbow grease later they were fine.

The ones on my car are like new, and that's on a 1999 GL with the 16" rims.

Yeah they are pretty cool, but getting older now and they are hard to clean.

I wanted a simple 5 or 6 spoke design, with little to no divits in the spoke (like the OE rims divits) and NO RIVITS!! I HATE RIVITS.

I'm going to sell the Kazera's on the car for scrap. If I read right, there is a place in North Philly that will buy alloy wheels for about $0.85 a lb and I also have an old cracked intake I'm going to throw in as well. Kinda sad to see them go, but one is no good anymore, no replacement easily ava, and the condition of the other 3 could be questionable, so there's no point in keeping them.

I can use the money to either put towards the bill for these new wheels, or extra toys for my son's Christmas day

For the decent 3 I would look around for people in the same boat as you. You might get lucky and find someone who needs a fourth or a spare. Then you could get a lot more than scrap money for the decent wheels.

Then again I plan to rebuild an engine in my living room cause the TV is too big to move into the garage...

I got the hub rings yesterday, got an email from Summit and the rims should be here on Monday.
