you have to disable the air bag before you pull your stock wheel off...and I think I'm going to quit posting in these threads now, for fear of getting banned

I think that you should research more before buying a steering wheel and see how much everything will cost before you jump into a project also who is going to install this. Do u know how to take out the airbag and clockspring and reset the clockspring. u can injure ur self badly if you do not know what u are doing by setting off the air bag . How much is that steering wheel that u posted. also what is ur price range.

I'm sick of all these ignorant ricer threads..and I need to control myself before I say something to get myself banned....good enough explanation?
you need to get a steering wheel puller, or even a 3 jaw puller will work. have to remove all of the trim pieces and then you disconnect the air bag and pull the wheel off with the puller.
you then get the correct hub adapter, i think i used a 96-02 full sized chevy truck hub adapter or something along the lines of that. then its really just following the instructions from the new steering wheel manual. make sure you get the matching brands hub adapter as you cannot mix these because of the mounting holes for the new wheel.
****you will have an air bag light on your gauges after doing this***

Changing to a smaller steering wheel will not make much of a difference in steering as you might think. It looks good but driving without airbags might also be against your state law / insurance company. What needs to be changed is the steering ratio and since there is no rack kit that i know of... you would have to do a custom job.
If all you want is a change in appearance, and don't care about insurance / laws, do the change with care and definitely disconnect your battery first.
or you could just get a grand am wheel and call it a day

My advice to you.....
Put down the Civic catalog, stop watching the fast and the furious, step away for your dad's tool box, and call it a day
Yes removing the air bag (SRS system) is illegal

I like mine but its a PITA sometimes...have to tilt it all the way up to get out and I still catch my legs..not to much leg room in these cars

SRS system
That's like saying VIN number.

start with mods that will help ur car like exhaust, rims, lowering springs, headers. keep the car clean looking. you do not need an aftermarket steering wheel. you do not even have the right tools to take off a steering wheel. people may seem harsh sometimes but it for the best you want your car to look nice not like a ricer or someone who does not car about there car. There are a lot of people on this site that know a lot you can learn a lot from them. I know i did.

I doubt it...but I also dont think he realizes how much cheaper it would be to build a 320hp (MKIV TT is 320 stock) OBS N/A camaro that would hand it to a supra, rather than find an old used up supra (sure wont be a MKIV TT) and dump countless amounts of money to get it in the 300 range...or even running to base spec..

we ARE trying to help...usually when I see someone that has all kinds of money dumped into aesthetic "racing" parts (racing seats, steering wheels, performance stickers, park bench wings ect.)...I think "what a faggot"...however if they have a built engine along with that stuff...it doesnt make it AS bad...your money would be much better spent on performance parts, a $200 steering wheel is insane...you could get some decent parts for that price on your 4 banger, make a sleeper. everyone likes those.

Just trying to make you NOT look like it... Ricing out your car will not make you look cool. But getting some nice rims, lowering and working on performance will make you and your car look cool. :coolio:

the interior are the cheap mods. like im planning on clearing my corners and tinting my tail lights and tinting my windows. when i get a job a couple months im gunna start the exhaust, then the rims, then the lowering. but i had doubts about lowering because i live on a hill and have snowy weather in the winter, but if its really true that the handling improves dramatically, ill look into it
i do appreciate the comments though, i know its tough to deal with a newb but what can i say

Well kiddo, we are basicly trying to keep you from avioding the mistakes we all made. Learning from your mistakes is awesome, but learning from other people's mistakes is golden!!
You say that the interior mods are all "cheap" What mods are cheap? A lot of interior mods cost as much, if not more, than the engine mods than a lot of us have already. You're not looking in the right places. Focus on one thing first, then after that's done, focus on the next thing. Try to keep from getting car modding ADHD.
Lowering will help and hurt in the wintertime. My car's lowered with Eibach's by 1.2 inches. It looks better, and takes turns better. As for the snow, it starts to become a problem for me after 15 to 17 inches. I also have really good tires on my car, that helps a lot. The only thing that my car will do in the winter that it never did before lowering, is if there is enough snow on the ground, when I turn, sometimes the rear end will kickout, fishtail like a RWD car, except it's does it a lot quicker, unexpectly, and more violently than any RWD car/truck I've driven and I used to drive S-10's in my job (w/o 4wd) The key is to be ready. I haven't had it go around on me, yet

any specific reason other than personal preferance
and thanks for the lowering advice

I think rims without drop looks retarded, but a drop on stock rims is acceptable.
Also I think a stock sounding car with with rims should be able to afford at least exhaust.........so.........
Drop, Exhaust(maybe some other goodies if you can afford it), and then rims....

I second this...just throwing on some rims is WAY overdone, and 18" with GM's stock wheel gap makes you look like your driving a 4x4...

The lowering kits for the Alero are like 1.5 inches, and an Alero is like 2 inches higher then the average car in it's class, so you're safe, and just don't go up any steep ramps at high speeds and your bumper will be fine, even if it scrapes. That crappy looking plastic can take a surprising amount of abuse without flinching.

Whatever you want to drop it. Eibachs is 1.2, and another brand that I can't think of is 2.2.
Throw new struts on too. Expensive to do all at once, yes, cheaper to do all at once, yes ;)

IMO, do what you want man. if you wanna break apart from engine tuning cause that shit get's expensive fast, than do so. i don't like stock steering wheels either. just be sure to disconnect the battery for at least 10 min before getting near the airbag. and then just to be safe keep out of the way of it. it's your car don't let people tell you what to do with it. just cause fast and the furious has aftermarket steering wheels doesn't mean your trying to be like them. that;d be like saying the same shir for wanting a turbo.just get the right hub and everything and go at it.

A nice looking cheaper wheel IMO is this grant wheel....

Which has a sporty resemblance to the 1970-72 442 steering wheels....which I really dig.

just took another look at ur thread with the pics of the drop. thats about where mine sits too. and youre kidding yourself with the 3.25 in drop in the back. its no more than 2 inches lower at best. still the lowest drop available with just springs tho.
