I have a set of 17 by 8 rims and I need a set of tires. My question is if a set of 235/55/17 tires fit without fittement issues? I'm currently running a set of 245/35/19 with no issues.

They'd be a little tall... I run a 235/45R17

You will have a little sidewall stretch but the overall hight of the tires will make up for it.. it will work

Wont work at all..you gonna rub in the struts with that diameter, unless your wheels are sticking out the fender. trust me

^x2. I got a set of 235/55-17 michelin pilot sports through work and they rubbed on the bottom of the spring perch. swapped them out for some 225/50-17's and they dont rub one bit.

Thanks, I dodged that bullet... What about 245/50/17s? Also, would a 19" snow tire even be effective?

you have to remember tire sizes are aspect ratios. the wider you go the taller the side wall also gets. the sidewall is a certain percent of the overall width of the tire. i would almost bet they would still rub but it would be close. why a 50 series? why not 45?

This is a great resource, stock size is 225/50/16

245/40/17, 235/45/17, and 225/45/17 are all very close to stock diameter, although 225 is getting a little narrow for an 8 inch rim.

255s really aren't that wide, there are plenty of cars with that wide of tires, besides, I went through a entire colorado winter on 255 tires, it wasn't that bad.....

I need a semi tall sidewall. These Chicago pot holes are a real b!tch... I lost three tires and one rim in a matter of seconds... And this was on 35 series tires!

kwhauck I live in an area of canada that has snow and ice most of the year, I couldn't imagine driving with a wide tire and not getting stuck somewheres
