So, I'm having a problem with the shifter. When first starting the car for the day, sometimes it's damn near impossible to get the thing to shift into any gear.... The button does NOT want to engage.... I think I fought with it for 15 minutes one morning. Any ideas what it could be? I haven't poked around at it yet. I need a day where I have a couple hours to take it apart and look around.
Also, I'll try to get a video of what it's doing, just to give you a better idea of what it's doing. I'm thinking of maybe shooting a little WD40 in there.... Just to see if it helps.

Take the knob off and coat the button and shift linkage in WD-40. I did that to mine and now it's smooth as butter. Mine used to be hard as nails to push in, until I sprayed some WD-40 in it.

I thought it might fix it. Just wanted to put this issue out there in case others have the same thing. It was funny watching my fiancee struggle to shift into reverse the past week. :D

What he said, sometimes the pin can come loose for no reason just from normal use and when that happens it won't grip the little metal shifter that is underneath. Just pop out the pin take the shifter off, do what phil said and then just make sure the pin is in tight and holding a grip on the actual shifter.
