I bought 3 kits from them for my car, all 35 watt. Happy with the quality
I don't think the 55 watt fits in the fog light housing, plus I don't think they recommod the 55 watt for small fog light housings

yeah i woudn't go with 55W in the fogs either. 35W is good enough. With 55W HIDs in the headlights, you get your point across.

I Just got mine yesterday And installed. Ill make a thread later for you to look at with pics on how They look.
I got 8000k 35w and I love them . Very bright!
Only thing is if u get the slim ballast (has lifetime warranty) Idk bout the others but the plug that goes into the ballast you have to flip over and plug it in backwards or the lights won't come on.

thats just normal with almost all vehicles, doesn't matter if its slim or not the only vehicles I found that you don't have to do it with is mostly imports except for my buddy's impala I didn't have to do it to his.
only thing with DDM is sometimes they take awhile to ship, you can have it in a week or a month it really depends on how far you are and how backed up they are

Yeah mine took almost 2 weeks but good for the money and I ordered mine Dec 18 got it the 29th not bad for ordering them right before xmas

Its a relay, not a fuse.

If its a 03 or later that uses LOW beams for DRLs then, yes, they should be disabled before you put the HIDs in.

Why is it that you need to do that?

In Aleros that use the highbeams for DRLs (99-02?) it cuts the power to the high beams in half during the day. I believe the DRLs work the same way in 03-04 Aleros, by cutting the power to the low beams in half for DRLs.
HIDs do not like any voltage less than 12V so, if the power is cut in half for the DRLs then in the daytime they could flicker on and off like strobe lights or not come on at all. And more than likely damaging the ballast.
robalero
12-31-2010, 02:24 PM
really? I never knew the 03's and up used the low beams as the DRL. you learn something new everyday lol.
also if you bought a relay you would not need to disable your DRL as it is constant 12v power and will be fine with no flickering

I have an 04 and had the flickering issue. Have to pull the DRL fuse.
Anyone do anything special when they wash their cars to protect the ballast? Or are they sealed up tight enough to be resilient?
robalero
12-31-2010, 03:22 PM
their sealed up tight enough, their waterproof and designed for it.
watch some video's online they will even drop the bulb and ballast into a tank of water while its on to show you that their water proof

you got the slim then. I noticed when mine turn on, they flicker just a bit. Other than that, I'm quite happy with them! So happy, that I ordered another set for the bike along with HID projectors. This is how it turned out. :)

Jesus, HIDs used to be like $200... just suck it up and pay $50. Cheap people and modding cars doesn't not mix.

My first kit was like $400.... lol.
I paid like $120 for my Sonata's kit from xenonsupply.com and $45 for my wife's Santa Fe kit from HIDExtra.com. You get a much higher quality kit with xenonsupply. You get Phillips patent bulbs, which are much better. The wiring is so much better on the Xenonsupply kit also.
The biggest difference is color. My Xenonsupply kit is their 6000k kit. The color is very bright white with just a little hint of blue. The HIDExtra kit is also 6000k but it is very blue. Too blue in my opinion. It looks cool, but not factory.
In my opinion, I think the extra money is worth it if the kit is good quality. DDM seems to be pretty mixed. A lot of people had great luck with them, but a lot of people also had problems. HIDExtra gets pretty solid reviews, and their customer service is pretty good. Xenonsupply has fantastic customer support, as they answered any questions I fired at them in an hour or 2. The Sonata is a little tricky because the way the projector is desgned, if you put a regular H7 HID bulb, the return on the bulb casts a shadow in your beam pattern. If you flip the bulb around, and notch out the opposite side of the h7 base, the beam pattern is perfect. Xenonsupply ships a kit made specifically modded to fit the Sonata. Couldn't have been better.

I definitely agree that it seems that you get what you pay for. I have no issues at all with the original kit I purchased (same one as Naich, as far as I know) except one bulb died, but it was several years old. The ones from Richie are top-notch too. I have 2 sets of those.

ive owned 2 hid kits from ddm, the girlfriend owns one for her car and my buddy has one in his vehicle. ive personally never had real big issues except for two bulbs died in all of the kits we ordered but they shipped us new ones right away free of charge ( they were DOA ) i love my 55 watt kit in the alero now I couldn't drive at night without it

I was going to order the same HIDs. can someone tell me the point of the "dual in, dual out" and "type 3" listed on their website?

I think dual in dual out is for both high and low beams.... Not 100% sure on that though... I just got the regular kit, and it works just fine. :)
i have the 55w slim kit on mine and havent had any problems with them. they are very skinny too and can be mounted really anywhere.
robalero
07-31-2011, 09:12 AM
dual in and dual out is supose to mean a better quality ballast but that is always debateable most HID kits out there now are dual in and dual out rarely is it single as the first hid kits were single

If you buying hids i recommend the slim ballast. I have the raptor kit and i got huge ballasts. I didnt get the mounting brackets which i thought were included so i had some problems with it. The left ballast would spark when it hit metal under my hood and it wouldnt shine as bright. So i wrapped it in plastic and its all good. But defff get the mounting brackets if your getting the raptor kit. Other than that. $50 for super sweeettt headlights is such a great deal.

now what can you experienced hid guys say about a kit such as: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-CONVERSION-KIT-H6-H6M-H1-H7-H8-10000K-12000K-30000K-/220703733025?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &fits=Model%3AAlero&hash=item3362f7b521#ht_4470wt_1165
would thye be worth it for the cheap price?

I could be wrong, but isn't it a bad idea to put HID's in a halogen projector? I feel like it would scatter a lot of light and blind other drivers.
I was thinking about getting a full retro fit on mine, but it just costs a lot of money!

Technically, yes it is illegal, but everyone is doing it, so join the party! I would love to do a projector retrofit, but its a PITA. Luckily we can adjust our headlights fairly easily.

just a quick update... currently on sale for $40 instead of $45... lol but shipping charges went up (at least for me!)
cavaliers60
02-12-2012, 04:41 PM
Shipping went up on there because I believe they now only ship from China... They ship them out from there individually because their large shipments to their shop would get taken once it arrived in the USA. Something about them being illegal and all

02-12-2012, 10:31 PM
nah, i checked in december... was thinking about a christmas present to myself, shipping was $46, now it is up to $55... lol...
