Is it possible to paint this hood?

Crazytaxi37
08-16-2004, 08:59 PM
Yes, you can paint this or any hood. I talked to them today and they are willing to do this project. They are in the middle of a project for Nissan right now and that has to be completed by Labor Day. As soon as that is done(3 weeks) they are gonna get this rolling. I don't have a price yet, that will come. Right now, I have 3 weeks to get the hood up here. I'll PM you TRU.

I'll keep you guys posted. And if you look at prices of hoods out there. $600 actually is a good price. Remember this isn't a mass production part. I beleive it will come in under that but we'll see.

you know the messed up part bout all this is that TRU had beaten me by bout 3 hours to get the hood! then this weekend i was up i Grand Rapids and walked outside and guess what i c??? yeah TRU's car how does that happen? small world! anywho, talked to him, really really nice guy, likes the board and wants to help, but its just that some people on here are dicks bout it, you can't blame Reed either cause technically he wasn't even suppose to sell the hood (he also had the 442 hood w/ mold)!

as for TRU, Soundexteme is right, i wouldn't either, you can be jealous just don't hate, TRU drove 2+ hours just to get the hood, and from what i got outta talking to him, he pretty much wouldn't get anything outta doing this whole copying the hood thing, besides being nice! Truth be told were lucky he's even considering letting us copy the hood!

Crazy - when i talked to him he told me he's been busy with school and all and some other S#it. He'll respond, can't say when but i'm pretty sure of it.

hey tony don't believe everything that Reed has said. because i spoke with the Special Vehicle manager, the guy who designed and did all the cars, and GM had no problem with him selling the hood because RK Sport did the hood so it was aftermarket and he can seel all aftermarket stuff. The 442 hood was not able to be sold because it was not done by an aftermarket company. I found out a lot of poop about what was going down.

I think it is great what TRU is going to let us do.

Here is my take, I am not one to see what is in it for me but what is in it for the Alero community. Some of the problems is always what is in it for me. We need to be more of family and do stuff more for the community than for me. If i had gotten the hood i would have gotten it to greg right away. but that is just how i am. more for everyone than me.

OK guys,

I had a good meeting with my manufacturer and all things are go at this point. I have another meeting with him soon because we have to fabricate the hood first. Start saving those bones guys and girls. This is gonna take off very shortly. If this goes well we will be seeing a lot of parts come of this. This is a test of sorts.

Please PM me if you are truely interested. I will have a price very shorly and you will have a new c/f cali hood soon. Hope this is good news for every one.

Things to come

fenders
trunk lid
interior trim
engine trim

All of these projects start here. I need a good sold count here.

NASCAR
IRL
CART
F1
Funny Cars
Top Fuel
Pro Stock

The answer is YES. why do I ask ya this? Because they are all C/F bodies. So that should answer your question if you can paint C/F.

OK guys, This is gonna move a bit more rapidly than I first thought. I hope you are all ready for this. The hood is being fabbed this coming week and you may see hoods shipped before the end of October. The fiberglass vesion of the hood is gonna come in right around 550+shipping. Still waiting on the pricing on CF. I warn you now that it will be more than the Fiberglass version. There will be a option for what will appear to be CF but isn't. The only difference is it won't have the weight properties of CF. I'll have more for you guys shortly. Please post up if this project is moving too fast for ya guys. LOL

Crazytaxi37
09-27-2004, 05:17 PM
The reason that those projects are not being discussed yet is because this project has to fly in order to do anymore projects. So, what I'm say'n is, in good time my friend. As more people get on board there is a possibility for the price to drop but this price is pretty much bottom line as is with the amount of people commited at this time.

I'd like to see one other hood for the alero that you've found. Sorry if the price seems high to you, but all GA hoods are $699-1200.
