Hey I'm new here I just bought a 99 Alero GL with the 3400 a few weeks ago and found your site so I thought I would join up. I paid $800 Canadian for the car and its only got 161,000kms on it. Got it from the original owner, its in great shape just needs a new wheel hub since the abs and trac lights are on and I might do the LIMGs just to be safe. Anyways just wanted to say hi.

Thanks, I'll post some pics since I'm sure someone will ask for them. These are from right when I got it home, I haven't had a chance to clean it up yet. The mark on the right front bumper is the only mark on the whole car, I'm gonna get some touch up paint then wetsand it to blend and wax the whole car.

Thanks guys. I've been playing around with it a bit, gonna do both the front hub bearings in the next few weeks, I haven't driven it personally as I lost my license for 1 year and a half for some dumb shit back in the day and don't get it back for another month. I just couldn't pass up the deal on the car so I grabbed it and just figured I would make it good as new before I start driving it.

Is there any way to tell if the LIMGs have been done, I had the hood up on it yesterday and there was a yellow sticker with the GM logo on it that said completed in the engine bay so it has had some work done on it I just don't know what.

I did, he was an older guy and was just like I dunno I took it into the dealer anytime something went wrong. Said it had a coolant leak once and he took it into the dealer and had it fixed but didn't know what it was that was wrong with it.

Howdy howdy. I say: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Look for the key signs of a LIMG problem of the coffee colored oil, coolant loss, etc. and then go from there. Unless...you are going to be doing some manifold swapping with WOT-TECH and then why not?

If you are looking into doing exhaust things, I have created a couple good posts that you may want to check out for the 3400.

Well after a week of driving it the car hasn't used any coolant, hasnt used any oil and the oil still looks brand new and is due to be changed in 500kms. The car runs amazing you can't even tell its running half the time its so smooth, I guess I don't have to worry about the LIMGs lol.
