Are there any low-profile large woofers out there? Looking for 12, 15, 18 in., rubber surround, 20-25 hz free air resonance ( fs ).

Just checking availability, not looking to buy.

Just to give you an idea ... Here is a JL that almost meets your "fs" requirement.

I'll post more once I find them.

STFU, I just saw low-profile and didn't think to look at mounting depth. :p It was a Pyle, they can't have much of a motor on them at all... And *technically, he said "shallow-depth" in which can be perceived as just that, not necessarily "shallow-mount" which typically are referred to by their type. Some people only have 9" of room for mounting depth. Some 4". Depends.

OP, good luck finding a shallow-mount with a "true" (fs) in the 20hz range...

There just isn't much to work with when it comes to shallow mounts. I can't say I know a lot about shallow subs as I have only worked with more than a handful of them. They just don't have the parameters of that of a "normal" size driver. I don't know how "low" you are looking to play with the shallow mount, so it'd be hard to give you an answer.

If you listed goals and available space, then i'd be able to help you out more. But if you just want the names of shallow mount drivers with an advertised 20hz free air resonance, I can't really think of or find any. :ninja:

Yeah, thanks, it looks like that kind of space-saving is costly, either dollar-wise for the JL, or in quality and weight. It would still take 3 units, over $300.00, to use those Pyles to build a prototype of what I had in mind. Then the Pyles' baskets/magnet assemblies would eat up about a cubic foot of internal volume, defeating the purpose for a car application. Still tempting to try one for in-home use. I was going for 4 cubic feet , but would have to settle for 5.......The Qts is pretty high on them, though.

This will have to stay in the drawing-board stage for a long time, trying to finish several projects and moving soon as well. Lucky for me I'm not working :)

Just an idea, as opposed to spending the extra $$$$ for a shallow application, you could do with running a "normal" size driver in a box slightly smaller than specification, and just compensate for the small volume with more power? This would require a little more know-how and understanding, but you'd be able to utilize the "normal" speakers parameters into your application.... If that's making sense....

I'm off to bed, peace. lol
