I seen an Alero today and it got my attention a lot because the front of it looked like a Malibu, but it had vents in the bumper with the olds symbol between the vents but with the Malibu styled lights....?
I have searched on the net all afternoon for this bumper and the only car I have found is the 97-99 Cutlass and it is the same design the Alero had, now I'm going to go back and see if the car is there again in the lot.
I know the Malibu has some of the same parts like the bumper support, but how or why would anyone change the front of our cool cars to the Cutlass styled front end? I have to admit the little grills by the lights would be nice, but the front of the cutlass does not look right on the aleros, too bastardized if you ask me.
Same for the weird people that had my Alero before ad painted the poor car Yellow, I was going back Red but I think I like the black coupe better

I'm there with you on not my style either, I have been looking to try to figure out how they got that to work and from everything I have seen online the fenders for the cutlass are nothing like the Alero fenders, I checked the cutlass fenders vs the grad am's because the GA had the other headlights and no they are not close to the cutlass style either. I seen the car from a angle when leavening starbucks with a friend, I'm going back in the am, I'm betting up close it's going to be a botched up Frankenstein type thing but could be wrong.
It was odd to see an alero with a bumper with grills in it thats up high, so at first it seemed to look neat but a little weird now thinking about it.
I had an old Maxima back in my school days and I recall people swapping in 325 headlamps and oddly they looked great and hardly had any gap or flaws to be seen. If it can be done right thats cool.
I once had a friend that worked as a recon manager for an auto dealership "crappy company" I recall him showing me one car they was filling gaps behind panels with spray foam and bubble wrap under the bumper covers to keep them from sagging, very very sad!

Kind of related but I've seen 2-3 malibu's around here with an olds symbol and then it's also badged as a cutlass. It's been an elderly person that was driving them too. I always wonder wtf is wrong with people to be like "yep this is an oldsmobile malibu cutlass sounds legit".

What? Malibu is a GM branded car. Cutlass and Alero are Oldsmobile. GrandAm is Pontiac. All three are N-body platforms.
My car has parts from all three brands, so I guess I have a MaLeroAm.... j/k
