coilovers

alright so i'll probablt get grilled by you guys on this but my friend is parting out his cavi and will give me his full coilovers.
what all do i need to do to them to get them to fit my alero.
i read up on some previous threads that some people have done it. don't worry about how bad my car will ride. i'm on heated sprints and my car sits about 3 inches from the ground right now. i know how a horrible ride feels.
or also i read on how you can make the accord coilovers will fit on stock struts to the alero with a little modification. can anybody explain to me how this is done??
i know you guys don't like this idea but i am not asking for what you like and don't like, i just want to know how this is done.

It can't be done, not for a reasonable price. A Cavalier may have the same engine, but it's completely 100% different in every other way.

basically unless you swap axles and drill new holes for top mounts it's worthless...it's really not worth the money to get these to fit properly...you are better off either going to bags or get custom coil-overs built if you want to go lower than others...

The top mount and strut attachment between the J and N body appears to be the same. They will probably bolt on. Can't say much for how they'll work though.

hense why i posted on here and mentioned there was a previous thread about it.
i've also seen a thread where ion was comparing the top strut mounts and they were the exact same bolt pattern besides the fact the the ones for the alero looked like they could sit lower.

getting them to work will take custom fabrication to the lower spring perch on your struts.

meaning if you dont have a welder and/or access to metals and such it will probably not happen/cost you a fortune.

i have a welder and am good at fabrication.
i just need to know how to do all this.
like what the steps are.
on that old thread the pictures do not show up so i cannot tell what they are talking about

if you are "good" at fabrication you should not need a step by step guide.

you need to get the coil to sit properly on the bottom perch on the strut by shaving off metal and welding to keep the spring from passing a certain point on the strut and then have the plate on the top seat correct on the spring as well.

well, go onto j-body.org...they have a how-to on swapping n-body components onto a j-body..so basically reverse the process and you would be set...

I bought custom coilovers, that's what I did. They work great...

I'm debating having another set made......
Although I will do it all the way this time with adjustable camber/caster plates and spherical bearings.
And I may use Hypercoils instead of Eibach Race Springs.

kwhauck i bet your coilovers are amazing. i wish i had a set badd. but the only reason i am considering this is because i am getting handed these for free.

You're bound and determined to have a Frankenstein car huh? Paint it green and put a couple giant nails coming out of your fenders.

and USED (key word used) to have neon green rims.
and i am also not jumping my car or doing anything to an extreme, to throw a strut through the tower or to even break one in that case would be very irrelevent.
