car makes sounds
the brake pads are real worn down and you can kind of hear them. sort of
every time the tire rotates it sounds like somethings rubbing against it. so when i drive fast it's like a constant sound...any ideas?

got a torqued wrench? 19 mm socket, big breaker bar and a floor jack ( or use the one in your own car in the trunk ) now do you know what your looking for when you look at the brakes?

Well...if your brakes and making noise then replace the pads...I figured that was kinda straight forward..go feel your rotor, if its really rough then they either need turned down or replaced. A shop may not even turn them down for you they are probably to thin

Are there grooves in the brakes also a shop rather replace the rotors than resurface them it takes less time and less work.

wheres the rotor?....complete noob right here the rotor is behind the wheel with the brake caliber and brake pads. When you press the brake pedal the brake pads presses against the rotor to slow you down. The caliber is were the brake pads are with the piston or pistons are. The pistons press against the brake pads to make them move and press against the rotor.

The rotor is the shiny circle thing...the pads are inside the caliper (the grey C shaped thing holding on to the rotor)

i dont see the advantages of resurfaces rotors. enless there BRAND new
the cost compared to benefits dont add up
for 25 bucks u can buy a new one
where as for over 30 bucks they try and save your old one

you better get a jackstand too if you plan on working under the car

cant i just use one? cuz its all around the wheel. you know what im saying.
so id jack it up like it would be changing a tire.
why would i need to go under neath the car?

its just for safety..working on a car without stands is never a good idea..regardless of what your doing, just get some stands and then you wont have to worry about hospital/funeral bills when the car falls on you because the jack rolls away or collapses

its still a good idea to use them if your looking under the car with the tire off

well I had everything apart today and forgot the camera at home. I am going to rego at it another day as I need new e-brake pads since mine are shot now

you would be surprised. you sit down near the car and if the jack failed, the rotor/balljoint would smash down on anything in its way. i had a jack fail on me once and tip over under the car while i was working on it without jackstands. now everything i do on a car is with jackstands.

Def use stands, the 2 seconds it takes to set them up is well worth it.
