Hub wheel bearing assemblies.

who manufactures the best quality hub bearing assemblies? im going through them like oil changes. could be due to the camber angles i run, or the excess pressure of autocrossing? just need some advice.

it might be good to find a producer, and possibly get an way to order them, for the forum... since good ones are hard to find.


also... make sure your not over torquing them. (not worried about this with jab.. but others who read this might find it useful)

first set i purchased from ebay, but i could swear they were timken, second set was o-reilly brand, now i need a 3rd set. i just put them under alot of pressure, especially on the track.

For the most parts, replacement auto parts off of eBay are crap.

try NAPA or CarQuest. I see ones on NAPA's website available for $134 each. Shows Warranty 36 Months from Date of Purchase, or 45,000 Miles Hub Assy - Front Wheel

The Timken ones are manufactured in the US. Sometimes they're hit or miss on quality for certain cars. A friend of mine has the Timken ones for the older J/L/N cars come apart on him with his DSP car. But for the most part I don't see very many returns on them, or even the duralast-branded chinese manufactured ones for that matter.

However, if the price isn't all that different and I don't need them immediately I will order ACDelco ones.

SKF branded ones.

I bought mine from what was once called Murray's, now its O'Reiley's. Not a single issue with them.

I bought the E Bay cheapies with Chinese bearings (confirmed) and one went out real soon and the replacement (both sides) went out in about 20K miles or so?

Theres two major players in the Taper Roller Bearing manufacturers, Timken and SKF. Both are good. I prefer SKF.

Timken is really good, ive only gone through like 2 sets with my air ride over like 4 years

I've only had mine changed once in the front... One was from a fairly hard hit and started making noise, the other one the trio of lights came on. Both were covered under my GMPP.

i have gone through 7 timkens within the last 2 years, i got them all at autozone, 3 on the driver side, 4 on the passenger side. the last time i replaced them i told the guy at autozone i wanted my money back because they were failing within a few weeks to a month or 2. I went to carquest out by my parents and they have a brand made in michigan that just upgraded their warranty to 10 years, atleast thats what the guy at the counter told me, dont remmeber the brand though.

Doesn't some stuff have lifetime warranty? Why is a 10 year warranty so inplausible?

He had 2 brands, valuecraft and the Michigan brand, didn't actually say a name, just called it the Michigan brand.

Chances are this "Michigan Brand" is just someone else assembling the same parts. The real difference is the taper roller bearing in these. The quality of the sensor also plays a part- but the major is the bearing.

I bought the Ebay ones, they're made by national and the first one has crapped out after about 6 months. It seems that all the brands are not trustworthy for quality, maybe that's why they're so easy to change? As for the 10 yr warrenty ones from Carquest, here in Lacrosse Wi they don't carry them and I looked up Michigan brand parts and it seems like that is the "Brand" name.
