Best place to install O2 sensor for WB A/F gauge

I just ordered it today. I was on Summit's waiting list for over a year for an Ultra Lite II ANALOG WB A/F gauge, but they called me and said that Autometer isn't going to be making that gauge now, so I bought an UltraLite WB A/F and it's being shipped on April 8th from Cali. Probably will have it next week and I'll have the time to install it on that follow Saturday :D

Anyway, I was going to remove the downstream O2 and install the O2 there for the gauge, but thinking that was too far down and after the cat, IDK if that's going to be the best spot.

I think I have an extra bunghole (no jokes please) from the Delta I can have welded in the exhaust, but where is the best place to put it?

The Autometer gauge will come with a nice new bung in the package, ready to be welded in place. Some directions are included. Best location would be 3 to 6 inches downstream from where the two banks of exhaust come together (assuming V6) so that the airflows have mixed properly. The bung needs to be on the side or top so there is no condensation damage. In order to drill and weld in the proper location partial disassembly of your present exhaust system may be necessary.

Congrats! They are fun to watch at first, then get distracting. At least now you have the proper tool to lead to some real tuning. Enjoy!

I got the gauge today, I was like :eek: that is came so fast. (which in this case isn't a problem)

Call my mech and he knows about the WB gauges and said he can drill and weld the bung for $40. The gauge came with a bung and a plug.

Next weekend looking to install this gauge, oil gauge, change oil, and a few other odds and ends ;)

OE upstream O2 is narrowband and doesn't provide very good resolution for tuning.
Downstream O2 only measures catalyst efficiency.

I know it will help me to get this car tuned, I wanted the analog gauge to adviod the annoying factor. I coulda gotten a different brand, but I wouldn't trust anything but Auto Meter :ninja:
