So, I got new rims for my Alero and I am using the same tires on my old stock 16" aluminum rims. The low tire pressure light will not go off. All the tires look fine, I will double check for pressure. I tried resetting the computer, still will not go off. Where is the tire pressure sensor...is it in the stock valve stem in the old rim...I have heard it could be there?

Thanks

yeah they are attached to your valve stems, if you didnt install them on the new rims you need to

since when did olds do that? if I remb correctly thats only an 08 + feature.

it should be in the computer double check your presure however I could be wrong as it has been proven before but check your pressure

Not 08+ but definitely not on any Alero. The low tire pressure system uses wheel speed variation to determine one is low as far as I know.

What everybody else said. Aleros don't have them

Exactly correct. Known as indirect system

Wait, did you reset the computer or used the reset button?

I put 18s on mine. Low tire pressure light came on and I filled up the front tires some and it went off.

The manual says something like it reads all the tires and if one is lower then the rest then the light comes on.. so make sure they are all properply inflated.

Wow I just realized. That's why my SVS light came on and I had an LF wheel speed variation code... and why my car pulled to the left. Once I had all four tires inflated properly, the car drives perfectly straight. lol

Low tire pressure light never came on though. :P

The Alero's tire pressure system is very hit and miss. I had a leaking tire from corrosion on the rim, front left tire was at 15, all others at 45 and no low tire pressure light.

I just held the reset button in the fuse box, no luck. I am going to check pressure, if they are fine will take back to the shop that put the new rims in tires and have them check code with gun, see if they can reset it.

Thanks for all the help

these are the rims I got....like them a lot... weigh 17.7 pounds.... they are a gunmetal color on car will post pics soon on my car.

I believe the tru reset is push once then push and hold. I know its the same button for the oil change reset light. The one that flashes is the one it is going to reset after the hold
