So i went to replace my tie rods and noticed my springs were not sitting right on the base of the strut so i took my struts out to fix it and look at what i found. http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/uu110/rmsawyer73/Aleromod%20pics/IMG_20110429_171315.jpg So i think its safe to say i need new springs lol.

That'll buff out. Get some oxyclean and you'll be good to go.
you really were able to drive you car like that without noticing something wrong?

That's quite common on 1991-1996 rear springs on ford Escorts. As in it's not a matter of if, but when. The OEM springs had plastic sleeves on them, which retained water and promoted rust. Since you probably needed struts anyway, just change them out with the quick struts, I've never heard of this happen on any other car like my Escort though.
