So as before looking to get a dvd/cd player and when looking at the harness to use the only thing I can find is from scosche model # GM09SR. Is there anything more simple/cheaper? Really don't mind not having the "chime saver" module if not needed. Would like a simple harness like I used to use on other cars granted I never had a RDS radio before.

That's still a little confusing and doesn't explain why some wires are removed and not used and why the other wires are used/hooked up the way they are? Little confusing I guess

so pretty much I can leave it the way it is and it will work fine? and how is there no wire to hook the red 12V to?

"When connecting all the wires from the aftermarket radio to the harness, use your amp remote wire from the radio, not the power antenna wire, or you will only get sound when listening to FM/AM.".....

this part is confusing

HMMMM. Where's all the sound guys when you need em? I'd like to try it this way, but want to be more clear on the directions and as to why each step is needed? (Illumination feature? Amp power wire? 12V red wire?)

I believe the Illum. wire is to dim the stock headunit when you scroll the dimmer switch. Amp power wire? may be the 12v red wire (thought it was blue?) this wire is used to turn on the amplifier when your head unit is on.

Are you not finding my information useful?

Well yes usually the amp power wire is blue and usually hooks to a blue wire on aftermarket radios but the way it is described is almost as if I am to hook up the amp wire to the improvised 12v red wire that is connected to the sunroof fuse? Also is there no other way to power the new cd player?

You need to use a fuse tap to a switched 12v to get power because you loose RAP (retained acessory power) and switched power, if you dont use the module. The Blue/white wire you connects to your decks remote or amp turn on wire so it turns on your monsoon amp like a regular amp. And Im assuming the blue/white wire will turn on you antenna booster too, because thats what the wire is normally used for. I have never done this, but realized I could have done this after I spent $90 on an expensive chime module.

Never used a fuse tap, how n where can I get one? I kno I'm gona get flak for this

Well I do have a sunroof do then what?

the fuse tap turns one fuse spot into two fusable circuits you use your original fuse in one position on the fuse tap and you use the other to fuse your radio.

OOOh ok I see, thank you. I thoughts what it looked like in the picture but wasn't sure.

So got the fuse tap from autozone but it says not to exceed 10 amps and the sunroof fuse i have is 20, is this still ok to use?

p.s. on my new deck there is one "sub-out" jack but my the wires on my amp have 2 plugs? do i just use the "aux-l-in" and "aux-r-in" still?

you are saying for your sub output there is only one plug for an rca jack? well in order to power both channels on you amp you are going to need both rcas plugged in of course...just go to radio shack and get yourself a single male to double female rca splitter and plug that into the back of the HU...problem solved

I would assume the 10 amp rating is only for the added circuit and you dont want to connect your amp to an input on your head unit because the headunit sends the signal to the amp.

luckilero how did you make out?

luckilero7
09-05-2011, 10:21 AM
Works great! The ONLY downside, and a slight one, is that in this set up the radio will only come on at the on or car started position and once you turn the key off the radio goes off. There is no more convenience of the radio staying on until you open the door.

That's the retained accessory power feature...to keep that you have to use the chime module

luckilero7
09-06-2011, 11:17 AM
Yeah, but I don't mind it. Mine is an 03. It will work fine if you just follow the how to.
