I bought DDM tuning raptor kit 55W lowbeam headlights a couple months ago.
i didnt buy the mounts for some reason so i just let them hang down. When i go to move the ballast it would spark if it hit metal. Now for some strange reason the left headlight is not as bright as the right.
Any explanations?

This is the kit

Try swapping the ballasts. You should be able to troubleshoot from there. I had a similar problem. One of my ballasts bit the dust and I was going to send it in but ended up buying a new slim kit with the dual in/out harness. Also might not be the best place for a ballast right behind the battery.

Thats odd. I would send them back and get the slims. I sell HID's here in AK and DDM's bigger ballasts are garbage. There slim kits are great though.

and by the way it looks like they sent you the wrong bulbs. One looks like a 3000k and the other looks like the 4500

I think you shorted the ballast by doing that. You shouldn't let it just hang down. Atleast use some 3M double sided tape to tape it on somewhere.

since yours have that odd + case issue... put a piece of plastic between it and the body. tape the plastic in place(to the ballast) problem solved.

It shouldnt do it period. All my ballasts have metal backs and I let mine hang down, never have that problem. Like I said send them back before you have more issues. Or uses cherringtons idea, that would work but if there is something else internally wrong youy could have other problems later. My guess is that it wasnt properly rubber inected. If this is the case it is also no longer water or shock proof.

ha ill take pics tm of what i did, it didnt help at all. but i took two pieces of plastic and taped it to each side with blue paint tape and then put it back where i had it. I have no clue what i should do to fix it.

Been in this business for a while. Sparking like that is not normal and usually means you have some big problems. I wouldnt go so far as to say like your front end lighting on fire but I have seen the ballasts overheat and melt through shit. Put your normal headlights back in. Remember better safe than sorry

Back when I was using a supplier in florida (never will buy from him again) my alero's bulb sparked and started smokign real bad, and my chevy's headlight caught on fire, the ballast had melted through the plastic of the wheel well cover. Bad HID kit can ruin your day. Believe me. Thank god I dropped that supplier before any problems with a customer occured.
