Hey guys what's up? I have a 2003 Alero and my keyfob stopped working so I ordered a matching numbers remote off ebay. I have done a little research on programming methods but everything I have tried has been proven ineffective.. Is this a dealer only issue like only the dealer can do the programming?

Thx,
Rosscoe

1
Enter your vehicle with your key and remote and shut the door behind you.

2
Press and hold the unlock tab on your driver's side door and be prepared to hold the tab through the following step.

3
Insert and remove the key from the ignition twice in a row and then insert the key in the ignition and leave it there.

4
Release the unlock tab on your driver's side door and wait for the vehicle to emit three beeping sounds.

5
Hold the unlock and lock buttons on your remote until the vehicle beeps again and release the buttons. Your remote will now be successfully programmed.

6
Repeat step five with any additional remotes and remove the key from the ignition to end the programming sequence.

did you check the battery in the key fob? are all the functions dead on the keyfob or just one or two?

Has anyone PERSONALLY done this and made a fob work ?
Tried for 30 mins yesterday and nothing.

I think this is the sequence for just the 99 model years. The rest of the 2000+ Have to go to the dealer.
