Also my engine temp gauge moves to about half in about 5 mines or will go to 3/4 the way then drop back down.... Any help so i can fix it before work?

I second that as a first step....whenever I've had cold air blowing with the heat on it has been due to a low coolant level. Good luck!

well ya the headgasket is the worst case. But but check your coolant to see if it is low. also see if there is air in the system there is a bleeder valve.

The bleeder you could not open? Use a pair of box wrenches to get it open. One on the lower fitting, one on the upper, it'll go bud. If you can warm them a bit with a mini-torch it should go. If you "f it up", new bleder is around 20 bucks at dealer

both my cars do it. loosten the cap untill you know the threads are no longer making contact. and pull the bastard off. mine for what ever reason require effort to pull the cap out of the tank.

the price for coolant? or the ammount? if your coolant level is low that explains no heat. why your coolants low is a nother story

$63.98 a gallon and requires about 5 gallons.

call your local auto parts store and ask how much dexcool is and you will need about however much your need to refill the system. by 2-3 gallons and you probably wont use it all (lets hope for yoursake) and you will have some spare left over to refill again.

Got it open and there is coolant in there! .... couldn't see from the out side.... whats causing my temp gauge to rise and lower really quickly?

could it be thermostat sticking?

i would try and bleed the coolant system first. then maybe try a thermostat and bleed again.

ok, well you say there is coolant in there but is it to the "full cold" mark on the reservoir? also, it sounds like you have air in the system which is not circulating the coolant properly. also, how does your coolant look? is it still a nice clear neon orange or is it brownish and gunky? maybe your heater core clogged up!

I really hate this whole overflow tank system. You can't check the level easy since the cap is really hard to take off and you really can't see through the tank. The trick to check the level is to have a light handy and try to get as much light behind the tank and try to shine it through and/or light up the tank, then you can check the level without removing the cap.

hate to burst you bubble but keep an eye on it. its not common that i know of for a car to develope air in the system for no reason at all. you may or may not have some problems coming down the road.
