What do you mean by they went back on the motorex cars...are you saying they shipped them back or are allowing them again...I know that the reason why it at least was no longer allowed was because motorex went through everything for the R33 and provided some retrofitted for crash testing and then they brought R32's and R34's over with it, until nissan let customs know that they all had different chassis's...What I had seen was that they grandfathered in what they brought beforehand...from what I read they 25 year thing is going to likely be the only way to get one

Yeah its not going to be "completely" like the GXP concept. The GXP concept had the RK Sport body kit and I'm not that fond of that kit, I'd rather have the SC/T body kit.
But for now I MIGHT de-badge it. I like the "GT" part of it but I think it would be a hassle re-arranging the drive side "GT" so that it matches the passenger side. I'm for sure probably going to take off the "V6 ram air" emblem though.

From what I've seen these wheels didn't come stock on a Bonneville GXP or any pontiac for that matter, they where only portrayed on the concept models. The Grand Prix GXP has some similar to these but look like sht compared to these. The wheels I have where used on the Grand Am GXP concept, Bonneville gxp concept, Grand Prix gxp concept, Vibe GXP concept, and the sunfire gxp concept. Pontiac really liked these wheels lol

I am sanding her back down this winter and finishing the body work so by this spring I can respray it. I have a vew other ideas up my sleeve by are still in the design stages. Doubt many will like them but I am going for unique. what do you think of a convertable alero?

I suggest you check out the convertable that gm made for auto shows to see if you like it...then you have to remember that to make the convertable you have to remove a huge amount of the structural integrity and that you woul have to completely rebuild the entire body of the car to make it remotely structually sound and streetable

^^ this plus the frame for the windshield as it is the integral part during a roll over unless you put a roll bar like the cutlass convertable...
I have one, and to be honest, the design was a bad idea on GM's part, mostly because the car is known to leak. It's a common complaint that many people on the W body forum have. Anyways, if he made the Alero into a vert, he would have to keep the "B Pillar", which would look cheesy with the door just how my vert looks with the side doorpanel. Compared to my Camaro's door (which has no frame at all) and the vert door (which is basically a cutout of a normal coupe door). They should have designed it as a convertible from the start then added the hardtop, same way the Vette is designed. I know the VW Cabrio is similar to the Cutlass Vert too, it has the roll bar. Don't know if that was done purposefully or because they decided to make a Golf vert out of nowhere.
Anyways, make sure to search everything you can if you go this route. It's not an easy task, no matter how many 4 door Florida vert conversions you see on the internet. Here's some pics of my vert, which has the roll bar.
http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h457/76ChevyImpala/Cutlass/DSC_0033.jpg
The easiest way would be to do that to keep the frame from twisting, you would also need to brace the sides. I know all convertibles came with a sway bar standard whereas the rest of the W bodies had no sway bar. The fenders from a normal Cutlass also don't fit the vert because there's internal bracing there. It's not an easy deal, you might have to find a company that specializes in it, but it's gonna be a pretty penny.

looking at the picture of gm's version I remember the need for a new interior panel as well...as was being said with the windows, they look to have made it work without the support, but good luck getting a door trim piece long enough to work and fill the area where the b pillar was

i have been doing a ton of research and i have a 2 door so the 4 door ones wont work for me. i also thought of doing a targa top as well.
tw0123
12-31-2013, 10:10 AM
Do the targa... much safer structurally ... you van brace it easier than trying to do a convertible ... just my opinion though :)

Do ttops...
Nas Escobar
12-31-2013, 05:07 PM
Does that car even have a sunroof? I know the roof bars are different when there's no sunroof. I think Targa would be nice when you have the sunroof, easier to do. You still would have to deal with the door frame though.
DRM Racing
12-31-2013, 11:54 PM
no I dont have a sunroof. and if I do a targa top then it will run from the windshield to right past where the door ends.

lol i mean i dont point fingers at what car brand sucks but my ford f150 has never had a problem always starts runs and drives has amazing heat to the point where i cooked 3 frozen tacos on my dash lol and its nice to be up high but i miss my alero like crazy but i it was for the best body was far to gone to many miles and well time to get another one when i find the right one i seen a 5 speed manual grand am 01 im looking at

i was thinking about converting my alero to a 5spd, and im not really bashing on ford just her escape she spent too much on it and I've dumped way more then what we paid for it to fix it.... like she bought it for $8,000.00 and I've dumped about $13,000.00 in it to get it back up to "good" condition now its falling apart again and im not fixing it bc well we aren't together anymore.. back on topic here lol once i get my car going again i get to figure out somewhere not too expensive to get one of my 18's fixed the po nailed a sewer drain in the snow and bent the lip pretty good then to get 2 new tires and i'll be running my 18's, then building the stereo system i want still debating on 2 12's or 2 15's.....

I'm not, that was from a while ago, first day I drove it farther than around the block. It's been sitting indoors at the shop still while I fiddle with wiring and minor tweaks.
Tomorrow onward I'll have a nice daily instead of this piece of shit Saturn I've been enduring.

15s......
Its a major thought of 15's thats gonna be a box from hell being built into the trunk with batteries and dual amps. And on a side note just got news I don't need the whole engine just a crank an bearings to get my baby going again!! :scpimp:

Change of taste I guess. I'm starting to like the idea of color matching. Trying to do the same in the trunk. Depending on how much work I get done today, may post a picture of what it's looking like as well as a distance test video.

New stainless steel brake lines (the hard lines, not the flex hoses) have been run. Next up: replace the fuel lines, and install new SKF (or Timken) wheel bearings.
Looks to be about 4 weeks before we fire it up.
Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates.
I should have video.

Has Mike given you any updates as to when it will be done? Mine took about 6 months (a good chunk of which was waiting for parts).

March will be 7 months for me. I talked to Mike about 2 weeks ago. He said he wanted keys in hand at the end of march. I still want to add the 2.5 stainless down pipe, so I can get another update next week when I call.

yeah alot of the parts he trys to stock up on. and he goes through GM and they are usually back ordered. and when they do come in, they are already needed for something so then he keeps ordering basically, i like the fact he uses all new parts from GM and not used.

my winter project is still in progress... lol

SLP Lid, Cold Air Mod, 85mm MAF, SLP Bellows, Port and Polished Throttle body(finally did the exterior as well), EGR Mod, Corvette Fuel Rail Covers, 36Lb Injectors, Chevy Performance Wires, AC Delco Irridum Plugs, Polished Air Drier, Polished EBCM, 15 Coats Zaino, Removed all Rustproofing(nearly 200 hours there alone) and full tune.. Founders Weld-In Tubular Subframe Connectors, Founders Tubular Panhard Bar, Founders Tubular Rear Control Arms w/ Articulating 3-Way Poly Connections I did in the fall. Cam and Springs sitting on my kitchen floor until we get some nice weather! Ordering AI's P&P 241 heads hopefully in the next two weeks and then the 1 3/4" long tubes with ORY. Those will only take a couple of days to install, nothing to the work I've already done over the winter. Yea, pic doesn't show all of whats done, but I've put a lot of time into this in the last 4 months!

Very nice.....Founders is good stuff.
Why not 1-7/8" headers? It's fairly well documented that they make more power on even a bone-stock LS1. With heads and a cam, you'll want them.
MMGT1
03-14-2014, 01:19 PM
No brother, I don't make enough power to run 1 7/8" headers... snake oil bro...lol It comes down to velocity. If I was hitting 550WHP and up then yes I would, not with the HP I'll be putting down. Ill be making about 510CHP tops. I'd need to be making around 650 crank for those to work properly. Those would actually hurt me in the end IMO. I'm VERY MUCH looking forward to putting my build up against the same builds with the bigger headers and see just who has made the "smarter choice". I've done my homework and have a very serious builder that says I'm on the right track with what I've chosen to do. I think I am on my way to the highest HP GM Hot Cam LS1 going... that's the goal here. I'm out to prove that the LS Hot Cam from GM is a dam fine cam when the right support is given to it...
Gotta have goals right? And if you guys know my past, you can probably bank on it :scpimp:
