taken the stock muffler off a 02+ grand am GT and applied it to the alero?
would it not be a cheap way to get a dual exhaust on our cars? i think i may want to try this because.. well why not? i dont have the 500 bucks for a pace setter cat back, and im sure there are plenty of grand ams in the junk yard down the road.
if anyone has attempted this please post photos or videos of your results!

id like to see it. i cant find anything on this. i would do it for the dual exhaust look. maybe a resonator delete would improve sound?

I think Kelly did that to his car. His name is Luckilero or something like that.

i believe there is pne guy on here that just took the muffler off at the clamp, and replaced it on his. it doesnt change the sound much, no better performance, it just give you dual exhaust.

thats about all it is. so is it worth while? yes and no

might be worth while is you live in a town where cops will pull you over for having a baby on board sticker.
imnot looking for mega flow, or a loud exhaust i do however want the dual exhaust look. it seems like it just fits with the alero.

yes there is a guy on who has done it
and the only problem with having a dual exhaust on the alero is that the bumper isnt made for dual, so youd haveta cut your bumper

As long as it is a factory muffler the cops dont give me crap. *example*: My recently sold 98 acura integra had a muffler from a 2006 honda Civic SI. it had better flow, and was slightly louder but the cops didnt bother me because i had a Factory muffler.

#2: my old nissan 200sx se-r had a 2.5inch stainless cat back exhaust, i got pulled about 32 seconds away from my driveway because it was not a oem muffler and it was illegal.
#3: my old toyota supra. 3 inch down pipe, gutted cat, 2.5 inch straight pipe to a Apexi N1 muffler. this was a 1987 turbo. If i remember correctly they are exempt from certain things here in the WONDERFUL state of new york. unfortunately one of those things is not modified exhaust systems. it wasnt even that loud, but sure as shit i got pulled over.

my past experience confuses me how ever. heres why
#4 1999 cavalier z24. cosmo racing short ram intake. LD9, Thrush Glass-pack, no resonator, and a 3 inch tip. never got pulled for loud exhaust or modified exhaust.

maybe police here are bias toward american cars?

complete derail there. sorry guys.
i think i have found a muffler. so i may or may not attempt to do this based on if i can get the muffler or not.

one cop in the next town over pulled me over and walked to my car with a smile on his face and was looking my car over alot. (supra) i explained to him the exhaust system i had on the car was a 50 state legal exhaust system. he said "Ahh no, you cant modify your exhaust in new york" i asked him what section in the nys law says that, he gave me a reference number and i looked it up. i found out he was full of shit. LOL but i dontlike being pulled over, i have a issue with authority. Soo i try to keep it somewhat quiet with factory mufflers and upgraded pipes. that way if they look at it, it looks stock and they cant give me crap for it.

Yes I've done it and then modified the grand am tips. I do have the V6 and has only slightly more tone to it which I like. I am on my phone or I would put up pictures. I have a thread somewhere on here with pictures.

retard!! just kidding. i kinda thought it was a v6 cause i dont see why you would take a gt muffler and put it on a 2.4 the gt muffler goes with the v6 lol

i have yet to get pulled over for my exhaust. i have friends with straight piped sti's with 3 inch exhaust and they never get pulled over and they are loud as hell but sound great not like a civic. but i live in NH,and maine.

here in Iowa if you have a tail pipe your pretty much safe they say if they think its too loud they can give you a ticket here. but i have friends with straight piped big blocks that are just too loud and don't get in trouble or ticketed but then again cops around here tend to be nicer to the ones who have classic cars/trucks....

In kansas pretty much anything goes...my truck ends at the cat (exhaust mounts broke and the rest came off) and all the honeycomb stuff inside has blown out and I still haven't had anything said. It's a big block as well

my truck is only a small block but without a muffler its bad cause its 3in. all the way out till i put my 3in-4in adapter on for my stacks... yes ik its a gas truck putting stacks on it isn't cool BUT im trying to keep as much mud out of my exhaust as possible so put it in the box and above the cab and it'll be better

cops here dont hassle us for our exhaust. just the small town cops who favor big ungoddly trucks or diesels with 5" stacks coming through the bed.
