Sup everyone. Need some professional opinions.

My brakes are making a popping noise. I've noticed it has increased a bit lately. When I lightly press the brakes while moving slowly, I hear the popping noise. My rotors and pads are very new. I got powerslot rotors on the front in april along with performance friction pads all in the front which is where the popping is coming from. I also notice it more when I turn the wheel while braking at low speeds. I don't hear it when applying the brakes at a high speed or when pressing the brakes hard.

Since I'm in an asking mood, I also notice more and more squeaking when driving over small bumps at low speeds. I was told the noise is coming from the strut plates. Should I be worried about this, and what should I look for in fixing it?

Thanks for any help yuse guys can provide...

Popping noise could be a caliper. As far as the squeaking noise? Lots of stuff that could be. Bad strut comes to mind.

I had the same problem but with my stock setup after I removed my rims. Lasted about a month. First week it was really loud was not cool at all. I would also like to know what causes this kinda stuff.

hmm...yeah I was thinking about the calipers. Any idea of their cost? I'm gonna have the car looked at sometime this week.

BTW, if I need new struts, anybody have opinions on which stuts are the best?

That is where I thought my sound was coming from as well. I had it around speeds 1 - 25 and 60 - 90. Funny inbetween didnt hear it much. Hitting 60 and above the car was really loud. Could hear it with the windows up. Then after a month or so it just went away not come back. I think when I took my rims off I moved the rotor a bit or something fell between the rotor and break not sure. Happy it's gone now hope it does not come back. When you get it looked at let me know what the problem was.

I think you can get a caliper for right around $50 at auto zone or another store like that. As for struts on our cars? KYB GR-2. Those suckers will give you a nice handling car.

Now, if you do indeed have some struts going bad, you might as well install lowering springs at the same time since the strut assembly is already going to be taken apart.

Cool thanks. Money is tight now so I don't know if I'll be able to do all springs, struts and all right now.

I'll let you know what the mechs find adam.

Well, my brake noises suddenly dissappeared so the mechs didn't find any brake problems <_< . I guess that's good but I'm afraid it will come back. They said debris of some sort got in the slots of my vented rotors. That's a nice wild shot.

Anyway, I do need new rear struts. Well one rear but I might as well get both. Don't have the money for springs or front struts. Now a question, do I need new strut mounts for the new rear struts? Also, having stock front struts and kyb gr-2 rear struts doesn't present a problem does it?

Thanks

Nope, you don't need new mounts. But defiantly get both rears. Always replace stuff in pairs. As far as having stock fronts, it's not an issue.

BTW, did you get your headlights yet?

Alrighty, got the new kyb gr2 rear struts in. Already I noticed a difference in handling and ride. Found out also that the popping noise is actually coming from the front strut mounts. There are bearings in there that are tightning up. That is what I was told by the mechs. They said mounts are about $90 each. YIKES! Anyone know where to buy them cheap and/or brand preferance. Thanks.

If you find out where to get the mounts any cheaper let me know. I have recently started hearing that sound in my front end, too! Kinda sounds like what I thought might be a suspension part that needed lube. :(
