tail tint suggestions?

this is one possibility for tinting my tails. i dont know yet what i want to do with them. i dont want to black them completely out. but i also dont really want to do what every one else does to theirs.

yea my photoshop "skills" are not all there.

you say lame, i say innovation. I see everyone tinting the same way and id rather not be just like them. anyway, i did start this thread for opinions so i accept yours.

Personally on a white Alero I go with a Mazda 3 like tail or LED replacement with a clear lens

if you are going to black out the area not lit by the bulbs, you might as well do the small 194 on the outer tail as well to bring some balance to it... i don't know about you, but that bulb burns out all the time on my cars, so why not just eliminate it and tint that area as well...

Use VHT NiteShades. you can pick it up at O'reillys/checkers or autozone for about 12 bucks.

i have rustoleum lens tint. ive had it since last summer so why not use it.

im still undecided on how im going to tint them. im not doing a complete black out just like a smoked look. cops here will give me alot of crap for it being to dark. and even though my reverse lights dont work, i dont know if i want to tint that part.

Lonnie: just keep an eye on em, mine fade about every 2-3 months and gotta keep redoing them to keep them nice with VHT

That's why I clear coated mine with like 3 or 4 coats...they shouldn't fade, but if they do that is a plus because I went to dark....lol

good point, mines just vht, no clear. i did about 3 coats and stuck em in the oven for 20 mins at 100*

How many coats of clear because it sounds like you got through the clear after some time...unless your clear coat is what's fading and not the VHT?

I'm liking the idea of smoking out my tails. Hopefully it'll look pretty good. I want to, but I also don't want to mess up. Any suggestions from people who've already done it? :)

dont use clear coat with vht vht was desgined to b glossy if done correctly clear coast actully dulls them i had mine on for a year an it didnt fade at all an dont go more then 2coats
