I just put my rims back on my car. Btw they are 18x8 I like the wide look on it. I noticed that when I have people in the back seat the tire sometimes rubs on the wheel well. Is there any way to get aftermarket shock/strut combo that will stiffen it or raise it an inch or two?
Thanks viewers.

I have weight in the trunk already from subs/amps/batteries. even a 125 chick still makes it rub occasionally.

you dont need to raise it. just get stiffer springs. your rear suspension is shot. no way that putting 100lbs in the back seat should make it drop to the point of rubbing.

unless you're using a wheel/tire combo that's completely wrong overall diameter (much larger than stock)

I had this problem as well with 18x8.5. The trick is to take a hammer to the inside of the wheelwell at the point where it meets the rear bumper. Gently push the inside edge upward. You will also have to remove the bumper and trim off the top of the wheelwell lip. It rubs because the Alero rear wheels are not centered in the wheelwell, so when you lower + widen the stance the wheel hits the lip at the back. Mine would rub without anyone in the back if I hit a bump.
stock tires lol for winter

This was my thought, what size are your tires?
Should be 225/40 on 18 inch wheels

The tires are 225/40 but the rims are 18x8.5 so that extra .5 is setting the edges of the rims outside the wheel well thats why they are rubbing. How much are spring spacers? I just replaced my rear suspension (shocks/mounts/springs) and it still does it.

I have 20's on mine and they have never rubbed the wheel well with 2 grown men in the back.

This..........you have 8.5in wide rims. They should fit as other members have them, however since you are rubbing and sticking out, you probably have the wrong offset of wheels. Get the right wheels and no problems!

Which will come out to far & be offset like you said
Saw that on a car once many years back it looked weird lol!
@ DUSTIN0285 that would work with bigfoot tires also (4x4)...

This is my car. You can see how the rims sit in the front. its the same way as in the rear. The rims came off a 99 Bonneville.
