We are looking to do a info/history section.

What we need is how to read the Alero VIN, production numbers, options for the years, and other info like this. Maybe even pdf the borchures for every year.

So let's compile the info we all have and try to find what we don't so we can provide all that info for our members.

What else would be nice is a register of the final 500's.

take a look at my homepage http://gm-alero.de/ I am about to do the same thing

GM offered these Infos a while back for free, the problem is, the pages (eg. gmpowertrain etc) got deleted for everyhing older than 03.

Don't we have someone on here working for GM and maybe scrounge through the databases for us a bit?

Yeah IDK what level 1 and level 2 are/were

Maybe they had more plans for the Alero line than we knew  They did make a Cutlass wagon for a long time

We are gathering the info. So we can give everyone in a new section all this info.

I think level 2 is gl and level 1 is gx. we need what digit 9 is.

in the Malibu Info sheet I have from GM, digit 9 is assigned as a check digit.
Like a CRC number

did you guys know the manufacture date is on the trunk lid on the latch? or is that just the manufacture date for the trunk lid o.O

falloutboy
06-02-2012, 05:55 PM
it would make more sense when its just the date the trunk lid was made.
As every panel, part has a production date (see plastic pieces you can even identify the shift that produced it).
Thats just the way every car is produced (or every other mass product)

Its so they can tell if someone effed up what shift and date

Is there somewhere a site that explains what exactly the RPO codes consisted of or what was part of a package?
e.g.
CT3 COUNTRY,GERMANY(EXPORT) GERMANY(CT3) produced:488
A51 SEAT,FRT BUCKET,CUSTOM CUSTOM FRT BKT ST(A51) produced: 8,254
T62 LIGHTING DAYTIME RUNNING DELETE (T62) produced: 8,268

Maybe sales papers/brochures
if it was cleared what they did to build a T62, it would be easy to get DRL finally

Hi, i have a list my LS printed out for me a few years ago, and saw some RPO numbers on it.
It seems to be the "package" my alero is fitted with.

Here's the pdf: printed (http://members.casema.nl/markennancy/eulist.pdf)
Hope i am right for this one?

You can also see its called "Chevrolet Alero Export" but i have no Chevrolet badges on the car, Chevrolet is only named on papers.
Later models here do have Chevrolet decals on the front. (2000 and up)

I have a build sheet but it's a Pontiac. IT is an SE1 and I did notice that "F" was shared with the GLS trim so idk what else could be similar. Anyways, the best I could do is provide the drive ratio on the trans (Ecotec models anyway) and perhaps paint color (which was shared with the GA). I can post up my build sheet and see what's salvageable.
