Looking at getting my windows done. I know there is a sticky with the laws.
Just curious as to a recommendation for a %.

Don't know if Canada in that post, but the darker your interior, the darker your windows will look.
PA is 30% and it looks lite on the Alero, but 30% on the ex wife's car, gun metal grey with black interior, looked really dark, with the same % of tint ;)

Toronto cops won't really pull u over for a too dark tint. I used to have 15% all around and never got in trouble, day or night, sun or rain.

Ontario tint law states that a tint brow on the windshield can't go any lower than 4 inches. For the driver's compartment right and left no film can be installed that would substantially obscure visibility from the exterior. So no more than 35% is recommended on the driver and passenger front windows. Behind the driver's compartment any film can be installed. Hope this helps.

here its like 30-35% but im running 20%. 5% would be nice all the way around, but you would have to roll down your windows to watch for medians or anything like that while turning at night. i usually do. lol

I think the recommended is 35%. Most shops will have you sign a waiver if you want anything darker than 35% on the front windows. Mine are 20%, and with the stock 70% tint on the factory glass, they probably come out to about 15%. It's quite dark and they look good, but you really have to pay attention when backing up or turning onto unlit streets/plazas at night as pedestrians are harder to see. You won't have a problem with being pulled over just for having dark window tint, but of course it's always a good excuse to pull someone over if they suspect something.

Be careful with the type of film used too... i had mine done 35% to be legal but they used this "new" uv protection tint vs the typically black film... i needed it darker as my eyes are really light sensitive i got pulled over because it is slightly mirrored

Are you sure they don't mean "blocking out 70% of the light"?
The law in PA for front driver's and pass window is 30% light allowance or 70% light blockage, which is the same thing ;) Rest of the car can be anything.
HAHA NJ you are not allowed to have ANY tint on the driver's and pass side front windows.
Here in Philly, tinting the windshield is making a comeback :rolleyes2:

I think a cop really has to be a rooster to pull you over for tint alone.. they must not even care around here, I've gotten pulled over 2-3 times since I've got mine tinted and cops never said a word about it. I'm running 5% on everything but the windshield.
backing up at night is a PITA though.

^^ Got busted for tint in Langhorne, PA ($104 ticket) and in Ivyland, PA ($136.50 ticket)
Then again, suburban cops have nothing to do :rolleyes2:
