Was a busy bee last night. Here is a preview of the upcoming set. Will probably get the clusters mounted this evening and lenses molded tomorrow. Hopefully they will be up on ebay by the weekend.
I used a graphite metalic, with a dash of chrome. Debating on the mesh in the center. The aluminum color gives it some contrast, but the black is more stealthy IMO.

Why not paint them body color? Either the whole thing in body color or just the mesh.

The mesh could be body color, I tried an anodized red just for S&Gs but since this is an ebay set, I won't know the car color, so I am keeping it neutral.

Nobody said anybody was fine with anything. Clearly nobody read the other thread that has been going for a week or so. Read it, formulate an opinion, and move on. I will say it again only once, those handful of members who were affected by the group buy have a clear option, those who want to buy a set of these have a clear option, and those who don't, well, they have a clear option as well. Not forcing anything on anyone.

Actually, that is about 150-200 down from back when I started. Also, simply working in terms of labor, at 30hrs, I make about $10/hr. Haven't made that since flippin burgers in high school. :panic: Those were the days.

Very beginning stages, not even close to being finished. I have essentially only removed stock lens and painted the assemblies at this point. The edge will be nice and clean when they are done.

When I receive my new shipment of LEDs, I will be fabbing up new clusters. I will see if I can get a few extra outer ones made. The only tradeoff is that not everyone has this mod, and it requires twice the wiring/soldering for the clusters.

I dont have the specs in front of me, but the led range from 2-4v and support the 12v auto source via 470-560 ohm resistors. In regards to the taillights themselves....they will simply be plug n play with stock harnesses as long as buyers send the harnesses with their cores...otherwise they just need to be spliced into the harness.

I understand that. I can run my own wiring for the car if you can make the clusters. I'm not far from completing my current projects and I would guess that within 2 months tops I will have the money for my set.

Update...the set is complete. Will be throwing on ebay tonight or tomorrow. Have pics of the inners after paint and test fitting. I will have some pics of the outers and the auction link soon. I was able to modify the edge to eliminate the trim, making for a much, much cleaner look. Wiring is plug n play.
Enjoy.

What about flashers and reverse?
Got some data on the brightness? candela values prefered.
AnderbrA
05-30-2012, 06:40 PM
Blinkers and Reverse are stock. Each running light rings use 24 8000mcd Red LEDs. Outers have additional 16 8000mcd LEDs for brake light centers.
This has been the same LED configuration I have used for I would say 95% of all sets I have made.
I am not familiar with rear fog configuration of the Aleros.
Since this is a hobby and I am not familiar with all lighting laws, I will say these are for "Off-Road & Show Use". ;)
