I am working on the interior of my 99 alero. Blue/Black theme. I am not totally done the car yet should be by Wed with the help of posters on aleromod lol. Anyway I would like people’s thoughts on the look. Be truthful!!! I won’t get pissed lol. Other things I should do that I have not done yet. I well be installing 3 screens in the car soon and a DVD player in my trunk. They are backordered right now should be shipping in the next 2 weeks.

I dont like the seat covers but everything else on the interior looks good. It needs lowered too.

glowbot
09-06-2004, 09:16 PM
It is paint. Would have had to go all the way to Canada to get some dye.

Ya everyone says that about the covers. I am getting racing seats very soon with 4 points on each and the springs lowered 2 inches. The seat covers are just covering up that tan s**t lol.

Yes. I have to wait for my next pay check. Got rims and did the interior this month. Seats and wheel going to cost me around 1500.00 total for everything. Also getting 3 gauge pods.

glowbot

Ya ya I know about the seat covers lol. The rims don't look that bad in person but are only a temp fix till I can get some new racing style 17's.
Cars not in bad shape considering I started on it 4 months ago and am a total noob at this car stuff.

Doing carpet right now black. I also cleared the corners a few days ago just dont have any new pics of it yet. Rest I well buy within the next 3 to 4 months.

The windshild wipers are performace wipers not sure what brand they are. Got them at autozone one day while I was there. I am thinking of tinting down to 30-35%. Don't need to go any darker with my interior all black. As it is it almsot looks tintned to about 45%. Cant see anything at night at all other then some blue.

domestic car!! not a import !!!
god i am sorry but i am sure you did allot of work to "paint" the interior and all but dude that is ugly!!! and the auto zone or pep boys seat covers got to go
the carpet idea not to bad but ya should have gotten factory carpet ot a mloded pice of carpet instead of putting it on top of the factory stuff
personally?? i would keep it the factory color and keep the interior clean
do some billet aluminum stuff don`t buy the 2 gay 2 curious steering wheel
buy a billet aluminum wheel oh ya and the rim`s ya got to go seeing those almost made me vomit
there is a fine line of "overdoing" a car and your almost at that point with the interior and all the neon`s and stuff almost looks like a space ship
you wanted opinion`s ya got mine and your getting it
keep the car clean and just tweek what the factory put in the car that will make you win at a show not neon lights and painted interiors air ride or hydro`s
good looking rims and good tires drop dead paint blah blah ya get my point
going over board makes a car ugly not a head turner

that`s my take on it

glowbot
09-06-2004, 11:45 PM
What can I say some like stock some like mods  . I'm sick of the same old stock that everyone has needed a change. You are right about the seat covers they got to go and well soon. Needed the color theme so I could get a idea what the car would look like with the racing seats in there. As for the rims not really into the really flashy stuff. Basic is fine for me now. Not looking to win any awards with my car.

The whole point in playing with cars is to have fun. As long as there is fun why not. It's not like a took a 30,000 car and did this sh*t to it. 99 alero GLS only goes for 7000.00 or so. I prob only get 6500 before I did my mods for mine because its from Canada maybe less with the miles. Hell I am spending more on my car then it's worth kinda crazy but I'm just a dumb college student going to have this car for 5 more years at least. By then even if I did no mods stock setup I might get 1500 for the car lol. This is what I call a learning tool. Take something mess around with it long enough not a big deal if it breaks and if it does learn how to fix it. When your ready to play with the big boys you stand a chance.

I like the door inserts but the blue is kinda bright. It's your car do whatever you want to do to it...if you want to paint it pink with purple polka dots go ahead.

I think I know what performance wipers are and I think I got some too...I replaced my wipers Friday and the difference is...the don't squeak like my wal-mart wipers did :P So does that count as performance??

Don't worry about what everyone else says. If you like what you're doing, then keep it up!

Personally, I think the black/blue contrast is very nice, but the pic makes the blue look almost like powder blue. The same thing happened with Marc's interior shots... in person the blue is really nice but the camera flash makes it look too light. Is that what happened with your pics, or is the blue really that light colored?

Like everyone else, I agree about the seat covers and the rims. Toss a set of chrome or gunmetal rims on there and get a drop... and it will look much better.

glowbot
09-07-2004, 11:44 AM
The difference between your normal wipers and the ones I have is they hold to the window better. In my case I do A LOT of highway driving here in the US and up north in Canada in the winter and back and forth between the two. So you guys can say what you want they work 10 times better at high speeds then your normal every day wipers do.

About the rims temp fix people. Guess that’s what happens when you scan and only read half of what was said lol. Reason for them is I hit a pot hole at 60 MPH and damaged 2 of my stock rims. I did not feel like putting 400.00+ back into what was stock so I bought a set up used rims for 150.00. This way I have more money to save towards something a lot nicer.

Tell me what makes more since

Buy two stock rims pay over 400.00 + install
Sell the two good stock rims and the 2 bad ones and put 650.00 into a rims fund that I can use in a month or two.

Everything I do I have a fund bin for.
Supercharger
paint job
body work
interior IE seats wheel and so on
and so on

For someone 4 months into a car project with 0 funds to start I'm doing just fine. Funny how fast people over look the avg Joes income and what a college loan can do to someone. Sure would have loved to put this years and last tuition toward my alero.

But hell I’m out of here going to look at other posts on the forum. You guys can say what ever you want to say but when I’m done with my ride and I catch you guys telling me it looks great in the end I well remind you of the poop you guys said when I started. For those of you who gave some support thanks.

Admin I think it best to just lock this topic up. Might get out of hand in the future. Thanks

Adam, you know what I say? Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and sometimes they stink. From what you just said about the funds, I think you're doing a great job. I think that everyone needs to cut him some slack, he's doing his car how he wants it and that should be respected. If you've read any of his other posts, you'll see that he is very eager to learn more about what he can do. That should be respected. ;) And the bashing peoples cars/mods, isn't that in the forum rules somewhere?? I'm not playing sides or anything, just being considerate as everyone else should be. :)

Were not getting outta hand, its just personal opinions. The windshield wiper thing just...yea lol

but otherwise we all had to start somewhere, hell Ive been where your at so dont think were looking down on ya or talking poop. Consider it motivated guidance. The seats yea they have to go and mostly anything you can buy from autozone to, but the painting the interior isnt bad but ya wanna use dye if its a perminant thing because the paint will crack and lift I guarantee it.

You can get dye from online stores and not have to goto canada for it.

09-07-2004, 12:20 PM

and as for the rest of it, not too bad, the blue does look kinda bright...I cant say anything, I'm still mostly stock cause I'm a broke bastard.

Silentalero

glowbot
09-07-2004, 12:43 PM
The flash really made the blue bright. It's a lot darker in person. I well take a daytime photo without flash sometime and post it.

About the paint I learned that after. Primed everything. The dyes online are like 14.00 a can. I could get a can in Canada for 7.95 and I was going up there for a few days. Why not. Ended up staying here in VA and painting while everyone cleared the house.

glowbot, just want to say that I think your headed in a good direction. The rims, I dont like but as you said they were a cheap temp fix for stockers. Found with the sunroof I cant get sunroof cover that slides over the glass off so I have to dye everything. I order two cans of SEM black dye hope it works the way I want it too hate to have to take that sunroof right off. I might also dye my seats and get the seat covers out of there. car would look 100 times better that way while I save up for the seats. Last thing I want to start doing is buying cheap so I'm not rushing the seats. Save up what is needed to buy the ones I wanted. I would like Sparco blue black seats with 4 points. The back seat I think I might just make a slip to replace whats there right now to run with the theme. If anyone knows anyone that does slips please let me know.

It's your money and you're car who cares what others say. You should see mine. I'm a daily chauffer to 2 young boys and it sure doesn't stay clean. I even have beach sand it in still.

I didn’t get mad just think some people were taking it a bit over the line. I respect everyone’s opinions. The topic of this thread was "Need Some Peoples Views And Help On My Interior" but it seemed about half the posts and comments were about the exterior of the car. That is what aggravated me a bit. I know the exterior is not even close to being completed yet. I work on the inside and work out. I drive 80 miles a day I don’t care what people think of the outside right now lol. I care what I see inside and how it feels to me while a drive 3 hours a day. When I start working on the outside I well ask people what I should do and should not do as this is what other people see when they first see my car and I would like it too look unique and cool. It also is one of the most expensive things to mod and my funds are just about there but I need to save up a bit more. I’m not one to do a bit here or a bit there I like to do everything at once to save a bit of money and have it done faster and be a bigger change in a shorter amount of time.

I did say I was going to get a pic of the paint. I forgot but I got a good pic tonight. The color may be different depending on everyone’s computer screens. Here it is.

When it comes time I well shop around get some pics and prices and put it to vote on aleromod. I just wanted to save up for something really nice. I just laied some new stuff over it. Going to get a mold in a month or two. I did find that the paint is hard to keep up. Going to rip the car apart and put all new vinyl in. Hell I found it was cheaper and faster to do then painting everything. Pissed me right off when I found that out. Guess thats life as a noob never know whats going to happen.

Yeah, paint dosen't stick to plastic- found that out when my fiance and I were redoing the interior in his truck- the poop scratched right off! :pissed: We had to take all of his peices to a guy at a body shop and he dyed them for us- dye works GREAT! Carpet can be a pain getting it to fit just right- took me like 3 days just to recarpet a truck! I cut the carpet so it would go over the contours with no wrinkles and then spray-adheasved the whole thing down on top of the old. It's good that you're going with a mold, though, 'cause doing custom carpet yourself is a PAIN!!

glowbot
10-02-2004, 12:52 PM
well the car has about 200 HP in it right now. I don't spend a lot of time checking what I put on cardomain and when I put that I was a total noob. For some reason I thought the car was 190 stock.

before the years end I well have it up around 270 - 280 and by next summer up to 330 so I really don't care what it says on cardomain or what you guys think.

So I guess in 2 months I well be the one lauging.

As for the interior ya it's a ton of work. I had everything gutted not just the dash. took 2 weeks to do full time work. Now I have to gut it all over again to redo my dash and doors with black vinyl. Dyes and paints just make it look like poop and the dust is hard to get off it.

I well be using high grade marine vinyl about a mm thick. Really is good stuff. When my car is redone I well post some pics. Right now I work 40+ hours a week so I really don't have much time to do anything to my car so everything I want done I have to have done for me or take time off work.

Well dye is good and all but I didn't have the money for it at the time when I did my job. Really after I got everything out and looked at it I saw putting new vinyl on it would have been a ton easier and cost a lot less. Think the vinyl I am looking at is about 80.00 for 10 yards. Then you need glue and tools that can add up a bit. I got a sample of it and really like the quality and it molds really well with a heat gun.

Seats I am replacing next month with APC or Sparco depending on how much money I have. APC are half the price of Sparco and look just about the same. Think you are paying for a name thats about it. My stock belts are coming out and all seats well have 4 points on them.

As for the engine I am putting 10G under the hood by next summer. 6000.00 for the super charger and a few mods and 4000.00 in other add ons from Jan - May. Not sure if I want to get NOS or not. After spending this much money and having my engine blow on me is not my idea of a good time. Have to talk to some pros before I do anything with that.
