i found a getrag f23 in the yard today. would that tranny work on my lx9

umm i believe it can. not 100% sure though. but IIRC i did see somewhere that it would bolt up.

Depends on what engine it was off of... If it was an 00-02 sunfire/cavalier with a 2200 OHV then yes.. Any other F23 wont work. The 2200 has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 60 degree V6s... It's called the "GM Metric Pattern"

There might be some sort of casting number but the easiest way is actually looking at it... The Metric bolt pattern is in a hexagon style shape.
Look through this and you'll see some of GM's bolt patterns... Also it's very informative on the F23

Yeah if you have it in your posession then compare it to the bolt pattens on that link I posted above or take a picture.
got a pic of it. can't tell if it will bolt up to the 60° v6

bad news... That's an ecotec version of the F23.
