Hey gang, newbie here. Got my first Alero last month for a steal (litterally). Guy was selling it for $1,000 and with good reason, almost every light on the dash remained lit. After fixing it, (which cost just a little under $500 for everything) I got a sweet running car with a KBBV of over $4,000 for 1500 buxs.
My son gave me a hood scooper ornament that goes great with the rear spoiler. :D

The alero is a very fun, comfortable, and enjoyable car to drive. plus good gas mileage and as you found out, easy to work on. prepare for the load of crap you're about to get for the hood scoop though...
nice looking ho, what engine?

I kinda figured I was in for a world of hurt from true Alero gearheads over that scoop. But hey, my son gave it to me.
v6 under the hood. She's got a nice kick when on the highway and the gas mileage is good. My only concern is the size of the gas tank. Seems small for a V6.

117k miles. 2001 BTW. I had this car go through a fine tooth comb with an ASE mechanic after buying it with a lit christmas tree of warning lights on the dash. Outside of the problems repaired, this car is in excellent condition. The guy selling it didn't realize that the ol' girl just needed some TLC.

One other thing I forgot to mention that was wrong with this car. Both passenger and driver side headlamp assemblies were taking in water. After pricing them at $249.00 each side from AutoZone, I headed to Ebay, where i snagged the deal of the century. An auto parts dealer going out of business liquidating their inventory had an auction for BOTH sides, brand new shrink wrapped assemblies. I was the winning bidder for $29.95, with free shipping.
Here is a video I made of a cold start at night

And did I have fun too. I tested that Soundracer geek toy in the Alero and had a blast. Imagine a fake scoop on the hood going quite well with the fake sounds of a shelby mustang V8? LOL

That is so cool!
I am thinking of a nice 250-300 watt outdoor speaker hidden near the rear end exhaust
If done right the sound should appear coming from the tail pipe & everybody would turn their heads around when seeing the car go by saying... A V8 Alero WTF??
No! i won't do it to my car it's just a thought i had on how funny it would be seeing people expression on their faces...
