anyone get this? part number 23520. im wondering if the downpipe is exactly like the oem or if its less restrictive or what. if its just a regular pipe before the cat instead of that double walled bullshit we have OEM then i may get one of them. otherwise ill just go to MMS >_<

this is what ebay seller has posted about it.
1.Ribbed body that minimizes expansion and distortion when the converter heats up. The ribs form a channel that protects the cushioning mat from direct exposure to exhaust gasses and they hold the ceramic catalyst in proper alignment.
2.1/2” lap-joint where the necks meet the body. The neck does not extend into the converter body where it could hamper exhaust flow. This is the strongest and smoothest flowing inlet/outlet joint of any manufacturer.
3.Separate dies on different sized inlets.
4.Monolithic honeycomb catalyst. The ceramic is designed for maximum flow and surface area.
5.Heavier gauge stainless steel, tip to tip. Others use mixed weights and materials.
6.Seam welded close to the converter body for a strong, tight bond.We don’t weld along the edge which could allow the converter to expand like the folds in an accordion, allowing the catalyst to move around.
7.Installed is a factory capped, 90 degree air tube on “with air” converters. This saves time during installation. There is no need for additional labor to weld on an air tube or to create a bend when only an air tube stub is provided.
8.Aluminized or stainless OEM-style ribbed heat shield that creates a rigid wall of protection against heat and adds to the structural stability of the converter.

i contacted magnaflow about it, the guy said its single wall mandrel bent pipe 2.5inch to the cat then its necked down after to match up to the stock exhaust system. i think i might go ahead and get this down pipe when i get paid. then save up some more for a cat-back.. probably borla even though i wanted flowmaster 80. the borla sounds nice on a 3500 grant am gt so it sound sound good on my 3400.. or who knows maybe ill cheap out and go with pacesetter? idk what i want to do with my exhaust.

people say bad things about pacesetter, but imo. i LOVE my pacesetter exhaust on my 3400, love the way it sounds, love the way the tips look on the back. and honestly like it better then borla, i debated on my exhaust through youtube vids, and borla didnt sound that appealing to me, seemed quiet compared to the pacesetters, so 324$ later and about 1.5 hour install time, i was happier then ever.
look on youtube and decide the best sound that fits you.
this is the video that made me make the choice on pacesetter exhaust.

and yeah, it likes to kackle a bit when revving it, sounds good ive had it pop twice pretty loud at a stop light once when i revved it. i was like damn!
had the exhaust for about 2 years now, no problems and the tips are still mint condition and look brand new. (i clean them alot)

i miss the crackle and popping sounds. my 1987 toyota supra turbo did that, 3 inch down pipe, 2.5inch straight pipe to an apexi N1 muffler. its popped every time i shifted and crackle/ pop when i revved. now its gone. :) maybe ill go with pace setter. it is cheaper and fits my budget better..
Now does the pacesetter headers match up to the stock/magnaflow downpipe? or should i get different headers? maybe mms ported logs?

the headers would have to be welded to the downpipe and a flex pipe would have to be installed. basically you got the back header coming down from the engine, and then you got the crossover pipe that comes down next to it, then a Y pipe connects to that. basically what im saying is no, you will have to weld the DP to the headers Y pipe.
ive got full pacesetter exhaust on my car, sounds good. Milzy was making a custom downpipe for my headers/catback today.

Refer to post #6. thats what the DP would have to be welded to. and that pipe is connected to the Y pipe.

ahh damn... id rather keep the exhaust as close to bolt on as i can, that way i dont have to cut it apart when i need to replace stuff...maybe ill just get the ported logs from milzy.. they are cheaper and i guess a decent alternitive to headers.

yeah it can be a pain, but its also not that much of a hassle, cause the Y pipe slides onto the DP/header and it had clamps that hold in place. so after you got a pipe welded from the Y pipe to the cat back it would be easy on easy off pipe.
really you could take it to an exhaust shop and they could do it maybe 40-60$ with a nice weld that wont leak. my buddy got a cat back custom made for 215$. so it would most likely be fairly cheap for them to do that. but just an option...
honestly i wouldnt get ported mani's if thats what you are talking about? i rather just get some headers, really any header you get for these cars will need a pipe welded for the DP or a flange to connect to your cat back or something else.
i think S&S headers come with one, but those are hard to come by now. and pretty expensive.
the pacesetter headers were on amazon for 305$ back when i bought them. (maybe 315 now) they are uncoated and still have them today, and suprisingly they clear the F40 shift linkage. which im glad i dont have to go back to stock manifolds for that.
coated ones are like 400 something.

Hmm. Funny. I have a exhaust for sale that has a magnaflow cat and header and quad tip exhaust. Perfect bolt on, takes like a little over an hour and a half to install. :)

I think Ben (www.wot-tech.com) is still sitting on a set of S&S headers.
If you are considering headers, I'd move fast if I were you.

so use the headers as some tight of lamp or table. Or hell use it as a paper weight for all I care. Take the piping and muffler and youll be good to go :p

lol. that actually sounds like a good idea. i need a new table. and an engine block weighs to much to use as a table.

I had the pacesetter on my alero with the 3400....sounded good....but was LOUD....if you like loud go ahead. Also, the exhaust hanger rusted off after about 2 years (daily driven....salty roads here in NY in the winter). After it rusted out i did the right way....went borla and i couldn't be happier. It has a NICE sound....its not SUPER loud but it's def loud (people can always here me pulling up from inside the house). Yea, the pacesetter is cheaper and if it rusts out buy another one or fix yours for much cheaper than a borla....but i like the stainless pipes and i kind of always wanted the borla. I'm happy! Either way you will be happy too.

So i found a muffler that i might give a chance. Its a thrush Welded crossflow exactly like the flowmaster 80 series for 1/4 the price. 35 bucks. i could get a 304 stainless for 45. i am debating on getting one just to see how it sounds. for as cheap as it is, it might be worth building a custom exhaust for it?

you could pay pretty cheap for custom exhaust, my buddy paid an exhaust shop 215$ for a custom cat back exhaust on his 04 suburban.

yea.. accept the local exhaust shop cant mandrel bend. its all pressure bends so the pipe would like bottle neck around the bends and open back up after. otherwise i would get them to make me a 2.5 inch cat back.
