starts but shuts off

Ok, looking @ a 2000 Alero V6 auto. Just dropped in a newer engine w/80k miles on it. After the swap, it will start but immediately shuts off. Any ideas what could be the problem.?. Thanks in advance.

Is the dashboard security light on?
You may need to do a security re-learn.
Otherwise, check to see if you are getting gas.

Yes it is, can that be done @ home or need to take to dealer?

try leaving the key in the "on" postion for 10 mins, then start the car. cause of the security light.

After attempting to start the engine, if the "SECURITY" light flashes or stays on, wait ten minutes with the key in ON until the light goes off. Then turn the ignition to OFF before attempting to start the engine again.
