no it's my license plate, i thought so too when i saw the picture. they only had 5 aleros,(junkyard) and one was my color, but the hood had a big rust hole in it. all of the others had massive dents or really bad rust. so i took the only decent looking one. but i know what you mean about how it looks kinda funky.

Is that by chance sarcasm? Haha it's a work in progress... I only make so much money. This ones in better condition than the other one at leased.

I'm just being an ass. I know how it is when money is tight. Looks to be in much better condition. When you get it painted it prob wont match the fenders perfectly but hey....it's better than the other hood that's for sure.

in the mean time, you could always plasti-dip the hood black so it blends in better! Much more affordable for someone on a budget

My plasti-dipped wheels have been pressure washed plenty of times and they still look the same as the day I sprayed 'em back in March.

I'm actually gonna plasti dip my whole car. Maybe like 3 weeks from now, I'm curious on how it's gonna look on my car. But I have rusted out quarter panels in front of my rear wheels. Due to the damn Rochester salt around here durning winter. But I need to get that fixed before I plasti dip it. Otherwise it would look dumb.

how much did the hood cost you at the junkyard?
wombatslayer

it was only $50. my other one had a big footprint of a boot on the top towards the windsheild. my friend thought he was cool hopping over my car.

Ok boys and girls. Let's look at the bigger picture here shall we
What you did with startle can of enamel or laquer. Is and will have to come off completely. Which in turn when it's time for guys like me to paint the car correctly!,,
It is and will cost you double or triple the amount due to what you put on your self. More material more time more labor
So let's say the guy with the silver hood due to the color of his car we would have to blend the fenders and bumper. I would do the whole job the way the car sits now. For 850
You go ahead and spray paint your car. That 850. Will now turn into 1500. For more material and more labor
See my point here guys Playing backyard bogyman and painter doesn't always pay off in the long run

does this still apply if since it is a peel off coating he peels it off before he took it to you (plasticote)

Never again please. Plasti dip will NEVER prevent rust. The car will still rust underneath the coating...

yeah. say you plasti dip the fender... one side is coated, but the other side is not, yes the outside is "protected" but what about the other side of the fender? all the weathering, salt, and other natural things will still make it rust, i mean... if the car was MINT and you coated everything and i mean everything front, back, side to side, inside and out. then yeah it would probably protect from rust. but thats just to much work, and i doubt you would want to strip the car compeletly to plastic dip both side of the fenders, doors, hood, trunk and everything else, along with the underside of the car.

it would help protect my tbird from rust, of course that is because it is mostly stripped to bare metal waiting for body work
