Hi all!

I have lurked here off and on for awhile now. I used to own a white 2004 4 dr Alero and it ended up getting repoed because at the time I didnt have the money to keep up with payments and it was in my dads name and he had passed away. But Im happy to say I ended up getting a better job and came across my new alero, a 2004 Final 500 Alero which currently has about 33,000 miles on her. I have painted the mirros body color and removed the front splash guards but other than that, its been my work car. I love it and plan on a bodykit and rims later down the road, but for now nice to meet everyone and hope to find a fun and happy new home here at Aleromod!! :usa:

Yea....idk about a body kit on a final 500...but to each their own. BTW if you do get a kit and rims then you DEF need to lower it ;)

IF it were to get a kit, OSV would be the only one worthy of being put on a final 500. I think it would look sexy with the OSV kit painted to match stock color and a nice set of OSV rims. :)

Yeaaaa....a nice set of OSV wheels eh? I don't think he wants to spend 2k...if he can even find a set for sale. Actually, gr1m might still be trying to get rid of his....idk though. Plus the money to fix the OSV....would be some expensive modding but it def would look sexy.

Back away from the bodykit for your 500!! If you are going to do that just let me strip the car for 500 parts.

Good find, but DO NOT MOD IT!!

It's as bad as dropping a SBC into a Hurst Olds

Whats so different about the Final 500 compared to a regular one other than badging and rims and seat stiching? and does anyone know of the easiest way to fix a sun warped dash?

xXManwhoreXx
11-21-2012, 11:33 PM
Reglue it or you can get a dash cap on eBay

are the dash caps legit? Cause I bought a dash cover and its like a cloth material and it was basically a waste of money. and I just looked and doesnt look like they make a tan one to match mine...

In answer to your question it is special because as the name states with it being final 500, therefore being one of the final 500 aleros produced and considering the alero was the final oldsmobile, it was one of the last 500 oldsmobiles, and as the number states there were only 500 of them made and that number is getting smaller all the time.So please don't ruin a final 500. Also welcome to the site and come to ASS it is a fun time

Welcome to the site and like others have said don't mod a Final 500. You have one of the final cars produced by Oldsmobile. Keep it stock because it means a lot more than just an Alero with different badging and seat stitching.

I personally like my car without a body kit. Doesn't draw as much attention to you, you don't have to worry about it getting damaged and it just looks cleaner. If you do anything change up the suspension and brakes...engine mods....intake, headers, exhaust will help a lot of the 3400. It's a good engine...LIMG leak is a common problem but they may have fixed that issue in 04.

I think this was fixed in 2002+ 3400 engines... I know 2004s for sure don't suffer from this problem.

Ya the final 500 alero is a collectible. Do not ruin a extremely rare car with a body kit. Most people keep them stock and only drive them in the summer.

I have loved aleros for a long time now, ever since my dad bought a red 2.4 twin cam, I just love the way they look and have always dreamed of tricking one out and so happen to come across this final 500. I also have a black 2001 Trans Am WS6 with only 16,000 miles that stays in my garage more than 3/4 of the year. So my garage can't fit many more collectibles lol. I could try to find a cheap beater alero and fix it up instead Idk yet

maybe it was 2003+ cause my last alero was an 02 and i had the LIMG go around 60k.

i don't know if it is around but there was one listed on the wichita craigslist with 250k for 3500...almost sad someone has put that many miles on one, however the ad said it was all highway, however if it was well taken care of and kept nice and clean, then I suppose that is most important

EDIT: here it is, wish they had pics and I was off on price a little bit

I actually paid quite a bit, out the door I paid a 2002 Cavalier and $9400! :x but it had only 24,xxx miles on her when I got her, now its up to 33,xxx. Its my current work/gas mileage car, I would like to garage it and keep the miles off but I already have a truck and a trans am so 4 cars may be a little much.

TheLastOfItsKind

just the C6 Vette Rims and a K&N air filter. Want exhaust, tinted windows, and maybe lowered, but not til she gets ALOT more miles if at all.

I think the color was one of a kind too. I've never seen a plum colored Alero.

Regardless, it's the fact that it's a FINAL 500 that makes it special. Oldsmobile was one of the first car companies in America started by Random E. Olds in 1897. IIRC, only Mercedes Benz is older than Oldsmobile. In fact, Oldsmobile predates GM. General Motors started out as a holding company for Buick in 1908. Later that same year, they bought Olds.

Basically, Oldsmobile was a legendary GM division, the fact that you have one of the last cars means a lot. It was the end of an era, which can be seen in a lot of ways. Also remember, Oldsmobile was wound down because of mismanagement and embarrassment of the name "Olds" (Which really were nothing more than cliche jokes). The brand itself wasn't damaged, but saying things like "This isn't your father's Oldsmobile" really ruined their image.

Anyways, I would suggest keeping the car stock. Your car is rare in color and the fact that it's a Final will make your car worth a lot of money in 10 -15 years. A lot of people liked Oldsmobile and as the N body becomes rare, the Final 500 cars will pick up value.

OMFG, Olds was not mis-managed plain and simple. It was one or two GM execs that had a Hard on for Saturn and chose to sacrifice Olds to keep their precious Saturn. Olds actually made money for GM which is more than Saturn ever made for GM which was Zero profits since the brand was born.

That to me is mismanagement. Really, GM as a whole didn't have its priorities right at that time. They should have built the Antares, they should have come out with a 4th gen Cavalier or a Cavalier replacement earlier than 2005, and Saturn should have never existed. That division had nothing going for it other than the SL2 which got old after 95. But as far as Olds, I personally feel they had good cars but had a poor execution as to how to sell them.

You almost have to wonder why the same motors that gm put in saturns seem to last longer than the same exact motor in other gm cars...what was done differently with them that seemed to add longevity and why didn't they do that to their other cars?
