So I decided that I want a leather shift knob. I've done some searching on the site but haven't seen many pics.
Does anyone have a leather shift knob from a Grand Prix on their Alero? I'm not really interested in putting the boot around it..
Also from looking at pics, I don't see how it would fit, because the Grand Prix knob seems to have a large plastic piece on the bottom where as the Alero shift knob slides over the existing shift lever. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

Check out this thread http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36605&page=2 post #21. It's on a Grand Am, but still hope this helps some.

Oh damn, I forgot the Aleros don't have the boot.

The knob will fit the Alero. All GM cars before they dropped alphabet designation for the chassis use the same retention clip to hold the shift knob. It's a "u" clip, similar to what you would find on the old window rollers or the lever to recline the seat. Your issue is not fitment. You have to figure out how to take off that black plastic trim that's on the bottom of the shift knob so you don't have it showing. It doesn't do anything to fit the shifter, it's simply to hold the boot to the knob.

You would more than likely want the shifter to look like the attached picture since you don't have the boot. I think you can just pull it out. Not too sure.
