First off I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate section. That said I own the Nexus 4 (https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_4_8gb&feature=device-featured#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDIwMiwibnVsbC13ZWJfaG9tZV 81MDAwMDA1X25leHVzVVNfZGV2aWNlc19VU19fNTAwMDAwNV9u ZXh1c1VTXzFfcHJvbW9fMTM2MjYwODg0NDY3MSJd) phone and was looking at third party car docks, as Google nor LG make one, and needless to say I don't like how most of them look.
I had my previous phone mounted on the air vents for a short while and it is a nice location however this still requires a third party mount. So, long story short Google released the wireless charging orb (https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_4_Wireless_Charger?id=nexus_4_wireless_charg er&hl=en) which allows charging and a solid mount with QI charging and a few magnets. Whether or not this magnetic force is strong enough for day to day driving remains to be seen though.
My thought was to remove the vent flaps and secure the charging orb in the recess and cover the entire vent face with a plastic mesh to prevent phone scratching and give it a clean look. As far as the mesh I was thinking something like this.

Outside of the high cost of the charger itself the only real worry I have is exactly how much space is available behind the vents? I can't find exact dimensions for the device but it appears to be the same width as the phone (2.7") and the height doesn't look to be much more than that at any given point.
Thoughts? Glaringly obvious issues I overlooked? (Not counting getting a new phone every year or two)
