I am looking at redoing the vinyl in my car on the dash and door panels, and the shops here in town have no selection. Anyone know of any companies that would have a good selection of marine grade (i believe thats the quality that is used for automobiles) colors? plmk thanks

Some of the material shops around here have marine grade vinyl, thick and thin. Also i was told to go to an actual boat store because they can order it for you, not sure of the colours available tho or the thicknesses. Good Luck.

yep boat store well have what you need and if they don't they can tell you where to get it. You may want to try online stores. I found the cost of the vinyl from the shops in town was a bit over priced.

Good luck re-wrapping the dash in vinyl.. your better off dying the stock vinyl .. if the stock vinyl isn't peeling yet. Or use tweed material. Otherwise.. you'll need to cut seams out and stitch in the area of curves since vinyl don't play in hard curves. Thats why I had my doors wrapped in blue tweed for the most part of it. It is very flexible and conforms to any compound curve.
Oh yeah.. good luck x2 for the foam that is lefted behind when ya peel off the stock vinyl. Thats a pain in the butt. I used a grinder to take it off when i fiberglassed my dash. Heres what a door panel stripped of the stock vinyl foam looks like .............. Look in the back .. the first door panels ya see has already been grinded down cuz i'm bout to fiberglass that this weekend.

any fabric store will have tweed. But the only downside of tweed is that if its in direct sun it'll fade and deterate. My door panel and dash tweed held up good without tint. But the rear speaker deck area since its in the sunlight 24/7 cuz its a flat surface.. its already falling apart after a year and 1/2.
Tweed is about 12-15 bucks a yard. they come good variouty of colors.. red, yellow, blue, white, black, green, purple.. etc

I'd stick with your original idea of using vinyl. but i wouldn't strip off the old stuff, just put it right over top and use the foam spray on glue, i used this stuff on my roofliner with just regular material and its awesome. I saw some thinner vinyl at the fabic shop that was super stretchy and it was textured, woulda been nice but it wasn't marine grade and it wasn't quite the colour i was looking for but it woulda went on just like material. The marine grade stuff i saw was only in blue at the fabric shop but they had it in 2 thicknesses so i'm sure what we're looking for has to be available somewhere. I don't like the dyeing idea or painting because that scratches off and you'll just have to keep touching it up, i think it would be more of a pita then its worth, ask anyone whose tried it.
