Hello everyone. My name is Ken and im new to aleromod. I am from southeast Michigan and work for a Automotive fuel systems company. I own a Alero GLS Coupe 3.4L gold in color. I currently have tinted tail lights, custom magnaflow exhaust, de-badged the rear, a killer sound system, and just cleared the corners of my headlights(A HUGE PAIN!). Future mods include a custom duel magnaflow exhaust, built motor, lowering springs, bodykit, 10000K HID's, blue strobe kit, and a 200shot of nitrous.;) Thank you for welcoming me to the community, and I really look forward to chatting with you fellow Alero owners and watching your projects come to!

You need to build your engine before that 200 shot...unless you want a grenade under your hood. Iirc some people have run a 75 shot on a built engine. I doubt a 200 would be safe at all.

But welcome!

Yeah your right. But this is not my first rodeo. Depends on how well the motor is built. Only time will tell! Very well might go boom. But ill be fun till it does:lol:

Yeah you better build the hell out of that engine before you hit it with a 200 shot. Ya dont wanna weld the bottom end together, burn holes in the pistons,or melt valves. Im going to fully build my engine before i even think about nitrous.

Agreed totally. A very close friend works for a company that design and build F1 and speedboat motors. He is on board. Trial and error. But thanks for the feedback!

I've learned from owning and working on my alero that bolt ons are your best friend when it comes to reliable power gains. Like ive got obx headers and i gained a good bit of Mid-High end power and a cold air intake gained me some torque, and better coils and wires and plugs really help. But after that i would do a bigger TB and p&p upper & lower intake plenum. After that i would run forged pistons, rods, rings, and bearings. Maybe even bore out the bottom end a little bit but not overkill then work on the heads.

You're local though, so if you have any questions on things, let me know.

Thanks ION noted. I see i have caught the negativity already LOL. A little car history, father in-law owned it, bad intake gaskets had coolant in the oil and he drove it that way for 2 months. He gave me the car for free, me and a friend put a used motor in it. Took us 4 hours(not bad). Pictures to come, my phone picture size is not compatible.

4 hours is pretty quick to put an engine in

Kalimaze
06-16-2013, 09:11 PM
Yeah could not have went any better. Everything went in smooth. Very surprised.

jawa

Yeah i hate rushing cause every time ive ever done anything on my alero in a hurry it got messed up or was cobbled up and had to go back and fix it later lol

Kalimaze
06-17-2013, 05:42 AM
 Jawa you are something else. Yes way in 4 hours. Did it. It still runs fine. It was really easy.

UNo I know how long it takes to do a engine swap . Ive had mine out twice with no help. And it takes much longer to doit in 4 hrs

I'm calling bs. Jawa is right.

You didn't do it in 4 hours. It took me AT LEAST 6 by dropping the whole subframe, and that's a hell of a lot easier.

jawa
06-17-2013, 02:23 PM
looks easy but it aint

jawa
06-17-2013, 02:27 PM
i had mine out on 3.5 hours and it was a pain in the ass
it may have taken you 4 hours to put an engine in but not a complete engine swap in 4 hours

02AleroGLS
06-17-2013, 06:12 PM
There is nothing easy about pulling our engine and putting it back.

Complete swap. 4 hours. Me and a buddy. No bullshit either.

Same buddy that builds f1 engines and assured you a 200 shot would be a good idea?

You should start small, like a cai and maybe some stickers.

I just can't believe someone could swap an la1 in 4 hours after struggling to clear headlight corners...you sure made a lot of progress...

Total B.S. no Fuggin way, I've done it in 12 with hand tools, compressor and power tools won't speed it up that much.

I have done motor swaps in like 4 hours

Yeah, on a honduh. Swapped a B18 in my buddies integra in around 6. That shit is a cake walk.

Yeah swapping a Honda drivetrain is easy. I do Honda n Acura swaps for fun

It did only take me 4 hours to do an engine and tranny swap, in an 85 Delta 88.

Glad to see you on the board and all, but your talking 200 shot and your buddy builds F1 engines (and told you a 200 shot on a stock engine is a good idea)

You couldn't clear your corners, but yet you can do this in 4 hours.

If you don't know what you are doing, it's fine. Nobody knows everything. So you don't need to come up with some BS to try to impress us, because all that's going to happen, is these guys will rip your threads apart and you'll never be able to get help when you need it

lmao he works for Ilmor in Plymouth Michigan. I never said stock we are going to build it. It took me soo long to do the headlights cause i am stubborn and had to get all of the old silicone out.

also i will deffently post a video might not be for a while but i will. If if goes BOOM! its does gives me a reason to build another motor.

No just showing facts. Look believe me or not that's up to you. But on a better note I love and respect everyone here for sharing the same passion as I do. I absolutely love everything about this car, from the interior to every single body line this car has. I really do like the input i have got from these forums. On that note, it might take awhile(wife and kids) but i will do everything i said i would to this car no matter the outcome.

What are everyones thoughts on this. I was thinking of doing a duel magnaflow exhaust... I am curious what an Greddy or HKS would sound like. An thoughts?

True duals won't fit. Greddy or hks would sound like rice. Get flowmasters, they sound great on the 6.

06-20-2013, 09:14 PM
Borla and magnflow sounds great too

Kalimaze

Yeah i have a single magnaflow now.. sounds amazing. i would like to get the same muffler and y pipe it if possible. need to take measurements.

UPDATE, since my previous posts i have fixed a bunch of problems with my GLS, installed eibach springs ( not very happy with results thought it would have been lower:( ) Made a new set of headlights with painted bezels. Installed a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS Double din touch screen, A strobe kit 2 in headlights and 2 in tails.

sleepyalero
01-16-2014, 03:03 PM
Should have just gone canuck springs.

Kalimaze
01-16-2014, 06:14 PM
yeah that's exactly what I said to myself after we put it back on the ground. Still might go that route. I did install them on some stock replacement struts though.

sleepyalero
01-16-2014, 06:20 PM
Yeah. Get kyb gr2 or agx struts. The agx struts are a little harder to find though. And more expensive.
